when the data bubble bursts, companies will have to actually sell things again

Seth Russell on Facebook:  Well this kind of hyped awareness is great ... it delivers info to people essentially free. Thing is if everybody does it, it falls in on itself. I agree, the bubble will burst.

There is more we can do to engineer our online relationships into deapth and content. But i don't think we can give it away free and just gather advertising dollars. We cannot all just be doing that. Which is why http://thinking.domains is looking for alternatives.

p.s. In Bali this is how things have always been. Land is family owned and no one is without and food is plentiful and available to everyone. Money is used mainly for extras, like cell phones and games etc. I saw this in action when I went there in 2008.

Don’t be too sure about that. I am managing my life using LOA now and I have not bought many things in the last couple years except for gas and a few other interesting things, a movie now and then. I do not pay for food or living or clothes etc. Those appear when I need them. More and more people are understanding that everything they experience is generated by their thoughts and it will not be much longer before this understanding is how a growing sector of people live. It is easier and more enjoyable to simply be in the right place at the right time for what you need or desire than to manage all that with your thoughts as has been traditional for a span of few thousand years.
Huh?  I shouldn’t be so sure about what?  All i was saying above is agreeing  that real content suffers when everybody uses advertising to sustain their prescience on the net and predicting that will change.  What does your experience with LOA have to do with that? ← i’m not complaining, just curious whether you thought was as directly connected to mine as your words would seem to imply.

wizzard why you keep posting .webp?
Mark de LA 2016-06-02 07:27:56 [item 20979#52518]
apparently drag/drop just works on  my machine & others it doesn’t  – in a way the getting pictures to repost here is kinda fucked.  It used to work better.  I have to screen scrape from facebook & google.
i don’t think it’s a matter of that drag and drop doesn’t work … it’s a matter of what is dragged and dropped.  in this case if you are dragging a file with the extension .webp it does not work … or rather it appears to work locally, but the file on the source cannot be hyperlinked from fastblogit.   if you can tell me exactly the uri you tried to drag, i might be able to figure out how you could have known, … or who knows, maybe even dink something here so that it would have worked.

I think the idea behind this post is garbage.  With a global reach of the Internet & brick & mortar stores & employees expensive – how is one supposed to know what’s available to buy & sell?  The trend is likely to go robotic anyway like maybe amazon warehouses & buying from the large distributors etc. There are even companies that will sell you fresh organic food over the Internet  smug

well nobody is saying that advertising is not necessary or will totally go away … neither me or Rushkoff.  There is a bubble here.  The idea that one can do whatever on the net and support it with advertising is just not sustainable.

I’m not sure what you are saying is going robotic … our very purchaching decisions?   I guess you mean that our refrigerators will order the food direct from amazon … untouched by human hands.  OMG … NO … NO … NO !!!!  ← a horror story coming soon to the SciFi channel … do you want credit for that one?
maybe – lots of fear about robots in drudge – I like the headlines of robots replacing MacDonald’s workers. Then, the ultimate sci fi Ex Machina carried it to the ultimate conclusion.  Just because advertizing doesn’t seem to work for you folks …...
