White House calls N. Korea test a provocation

The long-range missile, called the Taepondong-2, failed less than a minute after liftoff.
Tony Snow is articulate and cool .  Bush could not have found a better spokesman.  From my perspectife he said all the right words.  I’m glad it was him talking, rather than Bush.  He said the administrations policy is to keep this crisis a regional concern and not to change it into a US missels against North Korean missels.

Denise thinks Bush has learned to descalate his military swagger ... me i don’t know ... perhaps all Bush has learned is to hire people like Tony Snow .

Just what the Kim Jong Il is up to is anyone’s guess.  It smacks of another dictator who is isolated from the realities of the world ... like i said ... premature ejaculation .

Update 5/26/2009 After making another underground nuclear test, Kim Jong Il shoots off more missiles

Yeah, Tony is kewl. I have watched him on FOX news for a long time & occasionally listened to his radio show.  It is regional diplomacy. Kim Jong very-Ill doesn't have the religious insanity that Iran's leaders have. I'm sure he wants to live.  One policy is not good for all countries. I think Iran is the worst of the axis of evil.

Apparently there is nobody better to replace Kim Jong very-Ill - could be even worse, someone who is military & very much into using the weapons. Funny thing, we are treating them as if they have nuclear weapons without them ever having tested one & without them being able to send them anywhere on missles.  He runs the government like a mafia - drugs, counterfeit money, etc & pays his people for their loyalty.  There is no rumor of revolt. It is more like a waiting game. China & Russia are against us.

This might be the tip of an iceberg ... remember when the Soviet Union collapsed ...

... North Korean economy ... It continues to fall apart, and more North Koreans are unhappy about that. Worse yet, more North Koreans are finding out how badly they have been screwed by their leaders. Meanwhile, North Korean officials engage in even more bizarre behavior. For example, food and fuel supplies sent to North Korea have been halted, not to force North Korea to stop missile tests or participate in peace talks, but to return the Chinese trains the aid was carried in on. In the last few weeks, the North Koreans have just kept the trains, sending the Chinese crews back across the border. North Korea just ignores Chinese demands that the trains be returned, and insists that the trains are part of the aid program. It's no secret that North Korean railroad stock is falling apart, after decades of poor maintenance and not much new equipment. Stealing Chinese trains is a typical loony-tune North Korean solution to the problem. If the North Koreans appear to make no sense, that's because they don't. Put simply, when their unworkable economic policies don't work, the North Koreans just conjure up new, and equally unworkable, plans. The Chinese have tried to talk the North Koreans out of these pointless fantasies, and for their trouble they have their trains stolen. How do you negotiate under these conditions? No one knows. The South Koreans believe that if they just keep the North Korean leaders from doing anything too destructive (especially to South Korea), eventually the tragicomic house of cards up north will just collapse. Not much of a plan, but so far, no one's come up with anything better.

Bad news ... more postering ...
source: The Standard

Pyongyang's foreign minister released a blustery statement declaring that it had the right to develop and test its weapon.

"Our military will continue with missile launch drills in the future as part of efforts to strengthen self-defense deterrent," the statement said Thursday. "If anyone intends to dispute or add pressure about this, we will have to take stronger physical actions in other forms."

...

Here is a very good explanation of why the sanctions (& the talks which failed again) may not be working as well as one might expect with respect to the North Korea's nuclear programs: Hyundai in South Korea is in bed with the North.  The best we can do is to divest from Hyundai similar to South Africa divestment that happened in response to the Apartheid problem there (It's quite a model & it worked).  Unfortunately, South Korea now has the secretary generalship of the UN - Ban Ki-Moon to gum up the works.
The question remains which if any of the following could work:
  1. boycotts
  2. economic sanctions
  3. knowledgeable selective spending
  4.  ?

Is collective economic action possible to stop armed conflict ? Should we all just introvert, mind our own business & build terrible weapons in defense in case someone else uses theirs' ?

I guess the question is beginning to be answered:

The U.S. military is planning to intercept a flagged North Korean ship suspected of proliferating weapons material in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday, FOX News has learned.

The USS John McCain, a navy destroyer, will intercept the ship Kang Nam as soon as it leaves the vicinity off the coast of China, according to a senior U.S. defense official. The order to inderdict has not been given yet, but the ship is getting into position.

The ship left a port in North Korea Wednesday and appears to be heading toward Singapore, according to a senior U.S. military source. The vessel, which the military has been tracking since its departure, could be carrying weaponry, missile parts or nuclear materials, a violation of U.N. Resolution 1874, which put sanctions in place against Pyongyang.

After quite a few times it's called masturbation.

Update 5/27/2009: North Korea restarts nuclear plant and rattles it swords at South Korea.

Kim Jong-il dies

U.S. May Launch Strike If North Korea Reaches For Nuclear Trigger”

~ NBC News quoting senior U.S. intelligence officials

…. so here we see what direct threats make happen.

Yet …

Earlier, we reported on NBC’s claim that the U.S. military was preparing for a pre-emptive strike against North Korea, should they try to test a nuclear weapon in the near future.

Fox News and others are now reporting that the Pentagon is pushing back heavily against this claim.

several reports

… so who is really drumming up this threat?

… or does it matter … Kim Jong my listen to NBC, or twitter and not the pentagon or even #Trump.

So maybe #FakeNews starts this shooting war.

twitter search North Korea … #NorthKorea

and from the other side …

well this #nyt article certainly informs the situation …

HONG KONG — China warned on Friday that tensions on the Korean Peninsula could spin out of control, as North Korea said it could test a nuclear weapon at any time and an American naval group neared the peninsula in a show of resolve.

“The United States and South Korea and North Korea are engaging in tit for tat, with swords drawn and bows bent, and there have been storm clouds gathering,” China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, said in Beijing, according to Xinhua, the state news agency.

The statement also denounced what it called the Trump administration’s “maniacal military provocations,” like threats of possible unilateral action coming from Washington and the deployment of warships in waters near the Korean Peninsula.

“Nothing will be more foolish if the United States thinks it can deal with us the way it treated Iraq and Libya, miserable victims of its aggression, and Syria, which did not respond immediately even after it was attacked,”

Entire U.S. Senate to go to White House for North Korea briefing  ← one way to declare war?

Could speculation on all sides start a war?

yep it could.  speculation and anticipation is part of grasping … part of perception … part of awareness … part of consciousness.   forswear all of those and life becomes an unconnected dreamy #LalaLand of total #Freedom.

tag #speculation #anticipation #grasp #percieve #awareness #conciousness

XOR not necessarily a good thing if you are interested in TRUTH cool

the whole point of #speculation is whether it #RingingTrue or not.
relative to #doing it is trial and error sans #consequences.
think it through first … might just save a step or two.

in this case it is just #voyerism as i will not be going to war one way or another.
so it is #grasping events … testing my own awareness of what #happens.

#RingingTrue means nothing to me – enough #MediaHype & you can hear ringing in your ears as long as a #newsfront persists or a M$M narrative makes you feel good and right that you are on the “right” side of the popular #RWG.

The way that Kim Jong-un bullies the world with nuclear threats is exactly why the Norks should not be allowed to develop nuclear missiles or sub capability.  Same goes for Iran. With his recent launch success rate  (***) chance of hitting an intended target seems slim to none.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/05/02/hawaii-preparation-for-north-korea-nuke-attack-far-from-complete.html

There is a difference between the right to defend & the excuses to bully & threaten.  If he does have subs I suspect the Chicoms developed them.

yes we should not allow #NorthKorea to threaten with nukes.

and so #trump unleashes the #DogsOfWar against #NorthKorea

see contemporary opinion on Politoco.

and his tweeting of it below ...
#Trump needs this war … but he still must make it look like the Rocket Man started it, because China has already said “they will side against who starts it first”.

Careful Mr President, you are toying with #WWIII here for the sake of for your own agenda !!

XOR the #agitprop trump is dealing with the shit left behind by Obama who negotiates with terrorists like Kim Jong Un-hinged & Iran.

the situation seemed stable when it was turned over to #Trump …
now Kim Jong is firing off missels and nukes apparently in response to Trump’s mouth
and tensions are rapidly escalating towards war.

strangely the same thing is happening with #DrumsOfWarIran

whatever your #story, it is hard for me not to see that as facts on the ground.

#FactsInYourMind – kim already was developing ICBMs & Nuclear stuff.

… true but fact is that North Korean tests and retoric have been radically accelerated since #Trump took office.

← follow and verity the facts from here.

& China is now backing UN resolutions instead of appeasing the ‘UN & might even have an effect.  I heard the other day that the ‘UN will go easy on Washington State if you would just volunteer to go to the Norks & fill your mouth with warm swiss cheese & give the ‘UN the best blow job he has ever had.  Of course if you fail – off with your head & the pothole goes to Washington State.
null

well i’ve also heard a story that actual trade has increased between Russia and North Korea, and between China and North Korea … so i don’t know what to believe.   a #WWIII would probably shape up as Russia+China+Iran+NorthKorea against the West.  I doubt it would be a laughing matter.   i would prefer not to think about it at all … nor to hear in the news our president lending his bully pulpit to making it come true.

the other fictional story you told is funny null … especially so just because you told it to me nullnull.

Well, you better pack your bags with cheese, seth & go – can you afford not to be safe & heed what the ‘UN has proclaimed in one of his ‘bargains” null
