blogging is making an external mind

Some events here at fastblogit have supported intention that my blog become an external part of my internal mind. Internally i forget things quite easily; however here in my blog things are more persistent. So that a train of associations (thought) that happened even years ago and was represented in my blog can be retrieved and combined with my current train ... especially when i use the same identical phrases in my representations in my blog. When that happens i use the old node and merely enhance its representation, rather than write it anew.

Examples of this are 17553 and 17372 and 15732, ...

and 17363, ...

and 17322.

If i write here to intentionally make the nodes in the network of my blog, honest and as similar as possible to the nodes of my mind, then this is bound to happen.

This is an example of that.

Yep other networks, lies, news, and stories are the things that compose our minds. (*1) So, for greater fidelity, focus and honesty is the best policy. That and doing accurace pointing, or referencing ... because assuming that another mind will guess correctly based upon a vague wave to over there, is demonstrably fallacious.

Gregory Bateson wrote a node entitled (if memory serves) "Ecology of Mind" ... i read at it in the 80s ... i thought it was about (*1) ... but i could not at the time grock that it was.

I am not sure that Bateson's title of his treatus (hyperlinked here) at all relates to what i would be calling "a ecology of mind" ... but in any case it might be worth a second look.

Ontologically speaking, you are just talking about what's in your mind & what you copying into it in whatever way you modify it to fit. [see also: tags puzzles]

... well yes i suppose from the perspective of my personal identity (my ego) that is true. But I am also talking about the "copying" that is going on all around me, some of which i am aware. I personally absorb from outside, I personally take it inside and make it fit or know that it does not. I rather personally think that you'all out there are doing that same thing.

The challenge for me is I only claim what is in my mind as my mind. Such does not prevent me from interacting with whatever is outside my mind through my senses & in my time-space boxes. We just have a different way of describing what is going on. Boundaries are a bitch, some of that is discussed here quite well here some of which I am still digesting.

How do you know if you are not in it? Mine is fine. Anyway, I am complete with mine as long as I don't take meaning too seriously. Lately I have been paring down the self talk by questioning the utility of the stream of consciousness contents. The more I assign them as useless the less they want to return. Makes contemplation a lot easier.

. There is not much that i can say about your private mind ... so, yes obviously, i know really nothing of it.

I am talking here about mind in general ... that private mind inside of me ... and that external outside of me here in my journal ... and that which i find on the internet ... and in our culture at large ... and yes that part of your mind that you represent here. All those are things of which i am aware.

Me, i am going for increased fidelity ... fidenity in the sense of (*1) above. You seem to be going in the opposite direction. Great! ... maybe we get some good stereo separation with that

I do too. I have a extreme sense of what i have digested and certainly identify with that and consider all outside thoughts foreign untill i can digest them ... some of them have a distinct bitter or sour taste ... those i don't eat. I made a rule when i was homeless and foreiging for food in the naked city ... if something smells bad and looks disgusting, i don't eat it ... i even made up a rule about that.

I have very little desire to use a blog or any resource as an external part of my mind or memory. My reality is organized very differently. My main interest in blogging, or using a site like this whatever using it is called, is social and team interaction and once in a while public sharing.

No. I wasn’t saying it did. I am stating this common interest so that it can be considered in the context of defining “normal blogging” or “normal use” here which would go toward selecting a better default array and address your message that people should curate their blogs. Curation depends on the default use … which may need to be set as a group intent for that blog.

okay i get you here.

i see a whole array of person, group, and domain preferences and defaults. so each role in the heirachy can overide their settings and set the default for the lower levels.
