Media types supported through the same upload button like how they were before. Not the most ideal but no loss in features. More possible in another phase.

For the record. I am only bothering to support HTML5 supported audio and video formats that work in the <audio/> and <video/> tags. Outdated stuff like flash and mpeg are not supported. The extra work to add players for those is not worth it because there are so many ways people can convert, apps they can download for free, or websites that will do it for them for free, that it makes sense to only allow formats that are directly supported by the new web. It makes the code and the site more reliable and maintainable.

Also only .pdf and .txt. If you’ve got .rtf or .word or something, either convert it first to a .pdf or share it on dropbox or google docs with a link.

AVI is Microsoft’s private video format and it can only be played on the web with special codecs installed which are not even installed by default in browsers running on Windows.

Also, we only allow up to 2M uploads. 2+G is huge. You should put it on youtube and point to it or embed it. Let someone else pay for that kind of space and deal with the file conversion.

Someday you could have a embed plugin for the editor. But right now it is still super easy to do by grabing the embed code from youtube and dropping it in using the source button. That’s how wordpress and others still do it by default too.
