The huge elephant is more in your living room than mine. I wonder why? I didn't enslave anyone. I didn't oppress anyone. Neither did my parents. I don't look to do so either. Why is one race more interested in racism than others. Chinese, for example, were used much like slaves during the building of the railroad. Alien Hispanics are used for cheap labor even today. We should be celebrating the melting pot of diversity in such a way that America is truly a melting pot & not a bunch of tribes of various cultures living here for their own sake. ... I don't know exactly what you were pointing to (in the quote), but you mentioned guilt - I didn't. Tell me about the elephant in your living room. To me the subject of racism tends to be boring. For me (above) I am divorcing myself from much of an interest in the subject - it's not my mission, humanity as a whole is! Some people still have a racist mindset & tend to think from that point-of-view. I think that it is still an issue for some people including O (express or implied).

My phrase was directed to those who feel it necessary to proclaim the obvious: "I didn't enslave anyone. I didn't oppress anyone. Neither did my parents." Point being that Obama does not elicit that kind of reaction from white Americans whereas a Sharpton, or a Jackson, or a Wright, or a Malcum X does.

Your semi-snide comments aside, the point is clear - I am not part of any race problem you & Obamma seem to want to conjure up. It is fairly open the natures of the race-baiting poverty pimps, Sharpton & Jackson, espouse. It's not so clear with Obama, given his past associations with Wright & his wife's written opinions while a college student, whether he is projecting racelessness to get elected or whether he is just trying to capture another demographic. He may be sincere, but the election machine around him is only there for one purpose.

Let me cut to the chase for a moment. Obamma said a patently racist offensive comment about his grandmother using the phrase "typical white person". Now, how much bullshit can you add or surround that phrase with to make it not racist & offensive. How far must you zoom out & pan around in Obamma's life to make that phrase not exactly what it is? When you finally figure that out you will be able to grok what spin is.

If you read his book and then come back to me and still say it was racist, then i will consider wheather what you are saying has any credance or not. Yep, which is why i originally posted it under bittergate. Me thinks Hillary's remark is just as bad, if not worse, than Obama's.

And for the record Hillary went on to say "... and how the whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me ...". In other words she is encouraging blue collar and uneducated whites to vote against the black guy. That is no way to lead a nation.

I wonder just how successful her wink and nod will be. i wonder how many of those people are actually so stupid as to need her wink to vote their bigotry. Of course what she didn't say was that educated people and young people have been voting for Obama in record numbers. And that demographic is sustained even amoung whites and has been growing steadily as the country gets more familiar with Obama's brand of cool raceless leadership.

Well of course Barack did not say his grandmother "was a typical white person who goes to a church that spouts racism" so again you are twisting the context to put racist saying in Obama's mouth that he did not utter. To be intellectually honest you must make your substitutions in his exact words ... you would end up with something like this:

The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical black person, who, if she sees a white person on the street that she doesn't know, well there's a reaction that's in our experiences that don't go away and can sometimes come out in the wrong way. And that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it. We have to break through it and what makes me opimistic is you see each generation is feeling a little less like that and that is pretty powerful stuff.

Put those in the mouth of a child of a mixed marriage who has a black grandmother. All he is saying here is that we have viceral racial reactions that are conditioned by our upbringing and the good news is that these have been diminishing over time. Strangely enough (and this is a true story) i just experienced this right now as i wrote this paragraph. A mailman, not our usual mailman, showed up at our door to get a signature for a package ... perhaps he was dressed a bit shabbily for a mailman ... i caught myself scrutinizing him just a moment longer than ordinarily i would because he was pitch black. There are these visceral reactions on both sides of the racial divide ... that is a fact of life in our culture today. It is not racism to point it out and talk about how it affects our life.

What you and your conservitive buddies have been doing is trying to smear Barack because of his race ... and you are disguising that by twisting the words he must use to describe the reality of race in America. You are in fact doing what you are accusing him of doing, which of cours he is not.

Implementing 714 is certainly a laudable long term goal. What might be interesting is if you would notice that Barack Obama is the only candidate who has even ever come close to being concerned enough about it to even track its progress ...
