Shades of the KGB

About: the columbus dispatch : government computers used to find information on joe the plumber

Investigating a private citizen who had the nerve to ask Obama a question seems like KGB activity on the part of some partisans & candidate acolytes. Joe the Plumber was not running for anything; Obama was!  I hope the investigators get investigated & prosecuted if any civil rights were violated.
Google news as 306,000 articles on the "investigating Joe the plumber" news front. Here is a sample from one of them.  Perhaps the M$M should do a detail investigation of the candidate instead.

Barack Obama is canvassing door to door in Joe Wurzelbacher's neighborhood. The campaign has cameras there, hoping to capture Obama greeting adoring citizens. Here comes Joe, who asks Obama a legitimate question regarding taxes. Obama is put on the spot and gives an answer that reveals his socialistic views on wealth distribution.

The media ignore the incident until John McCain brings it up in the last debate. What do the media do? They go after Joe the Plumber, investigating his personal information regarding income, tax status, and whether he has a plumber's license.

This sends a pretty scary message to those of us who want answers from our politicians: Ask the wrong question and you may become a target of the media.

... like I said earlier it's the candidate's answer that matters. It was the plumber's question that uncovered BHO's socialism approach to the economy - some call it  "communism-lite".
There's plenty of work in Russia (or is there?) for reporters who want to be active in cover-ups, party line dirty tricks & destroying political enemies of Putin. Go to Russia & maybe you can be hailed for bringing back the USSR! Better still, some of us should begin investigating reporters. Freedom of speech applies to ordinary citizens as well as reporters. It works both ways!

"Based on what we know to this point, we don't have any reason to believe the information was improperly accessed or disclosed by a state employee," his press secretary told the paper.

Name searches on Joe the Plumber were also conducted at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, where his registration and driving records were pulled. The State Highway Patrol has seized a government computer at the Ohio Department of Insurance as evidence. A separate search was conducted in the Toledo Police Department's criminal database.

Well if laws were broken in this investigation, then the journalist should be brought up on formal charges.  But fact checking has always been the job of journalist and there are no legitimate exceptions, this kind of partisan hyperventilation notwithstanding.   I for one am very glad to know that Joe the Plumber who claims to be planning on purchasing a $150,000/year business will be getting an extra help from the Obama tax cut for the middle class.  Without journalists going that extra mile, we would never have known that, and we would be at the mercy of McCain's erroneous spin on the facts.  I seriously doubt that you item or the Joe The Plumber myth has much influence among undecided voters - so you are preaching to your choir - and it is singing off key.
ad hominem shit again!  Someday when they investigate you for something you say, if you can come up with something original, then with your name sprayed all over the M$M I hope you remember to wear your Depends.

If you have no answer insult the questioner. If you have no answer trash the messenger. If have no answer cut off the balls of the questioner.
Alinsky's third rule of ethics of means and ends is that in war the end justifies almost any means.
The second rule of the ethics of means and ends is that the judgement of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgement.
The first rule is that one's concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with one's personal interest in the issue.
There are eleven in Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals which I won't republish here.
The eleventh rule of the ethics of means and ends is that goals must be phrased in general terms like "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, " "Of the Common Welfare," "Pursuit of Happiness," or "Bread and Peace."   [sic] or Change etc. (Obama).
I have said before that the ends & the means must be true, beautiful & good to justify action.

Which is an excellent excuse not to do something when something urgently must be done.
Again, the Alinskyites would say that.  I would say that the leftist radicals make their living by making crises out of everything (except perhaps tax-cuts). Without a crisis there is no need for government or a revolution. See 10613.
BTW, you can come up with something true, beautiful & good just as fast as you can come up with something false, ugly and bad!

Venezuela's Chavez wants one party rule or no opposition. Jail your opponents. Again, shades of the USSR.

Here's more links that show the Democrat Party want's one party rule:

Dean: One-Party Rule Would Rule...

Pelosi: Congress 'will be more bipartisan' with substantial Dem majorities...
I doubt the second one is true at all!

Remember that the failed & disastrous Carter Administration was operating with effectively one party rule. Anyway the USSR, China & Iran all have effective one party rule.

Yeah so do I.  Governmental officials leaking information about private parties for partisan motives has got to be against the law.

Yep, just like Joe the Plumber being smeared.

Frequently you will backspace or delete the </div> markup and that throws off the reply.  When you find that has happened, the best thing is to just start a new comment and not to reply to a previous comment.  I have to do that many times with your comments - especially the ones with pictures.
The error started, me thinks, with the comment timed 06:05:58.  Delete that one and all the rest should be ok.
