What If .... ?

What if all the nations of the Earth came together at the UN or ? & declared an end to armed conflict & war - what would happen? Who would object first? Would the economic troubles of the World begin to show a rollback because of the jubilation that followed? How could we proceed from there? What about the religions of the world - could they all focus upon living by the Golden Rule & what's common amongst human beings instead of arguing over what names to call God & what dogma to organize their peoples under?

eh? By so doing can we generate spontaneously a Quantum Field to heal the imbalance in the World & the Earth?

* 1/27/09 - P.S. This item's intent is to stimulate the idea, not provide the solution to the World's ills.  Just like the Hunger Project many years ago - the biggest problem was getting people to even accept the goal to end World hunger.  I have been told that in the beginning people were asked to sign a simple card to commit to ending World hunger by the millenia (without request for money or energy on their part) & some people even failed to wrap themselves around the idea. It's a mindshift that needs to be addressed. The answser is all in your buts ....
2/2/2009 - read the Einstein-Russell Manifesto of 1955 for further inspiration! It is very rational yet awaits the discovery of a port to motive force within the wills of men.
source: ... There lies before us, if we choose, continual progress in happiness, knowledge, and wisdom. Shall we, instead, choose death, because we cannot forget our quarrels? We appeal as human beings to human beings: Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. If you can do so, the way lies open to a new Paradise; if you cannot, there lies before you the risk of universal death.

What would happen?  Absolutely nothing.  The end of armed conflict cannot be legislated.
Try again you of change & hope!  Nobody said anything about passing a law!

Sure you did ... what is "came together at the UN  & declare" ?   Just declaring something is like legislation ... it is in the paper fantasy dimension.  It's like you waking up Monday morning and saying to yourself "I'm gonna be good all week" ... its a worthless gesture.  What might be better would be to legislate that no arms would be manufactured.  At least then you could put some teeth in it and put people in jail who broke the law.  Of course all of this is just idle fantasy.
So is HOPE! So is CHANGE! So is OBAMA!
One has to be in a frame of mind where he backs up his declaration by promises, practices, & actions & the integrity to say what you will do & then do what you say.  It has been demonstrated in some corporations but, I suspect not with your side of the political spectrum!

The challenge now is that wars are not so much World Wars any longer but asymmetric warfare of terror & evil. One challenge is to make smaller conflicts not turn into World conflicts & then abolish the conflicts entirely!

The fun part is that we have some history to shed light on the problem unless we are condemned to repeat it.
  • WW-I 1914-1918 - in the aftermath the failure to cure the economic conditions caused
  • The Great Depression- 1929 what is being cranked up now again if the same mistakes are repeated & such as 11378 & 3-foldness are not considered
  • WW-II 1939-1941 - the cure for the depression?
From my econ-101 class it was clear that all wars are caused ultimately by economics.

Carrying on with my theme for today that Context is King.  This item might gain a bit more traction if instead of just asking ....
What if all the nations of the Earth came together at the UN or ? & declared an end to armed conflict & war - what would happen?
... we asked instead: what is the context of events such that the nations of the Earth would come together and end armed conflict?
If you want to ask a different question which touches on the one I asked then that's fine with me. I would be interested in how you would answer your own question!  Additionally, you may want to consider why I asked the question exactly the way I did (or not). I asked an open ended question in such a way that someone who is just not a polarity miss-matcher would have to go through a brief imagination of how good it would be before saying "that can't work".  I want you to enter the state of feeling what things would be like if ? ...
