The operating instructions for this mp3 player are almost identical to the new Ipod shuffle. 

Orient the unit with the belt clip facing away from you and opening to the right.  Then the standard Ipod shuffle controls will be facing you.  Play or pause is the round button in the center, next or fast forward is the button to the right, and previous or rewind is the button to the left. Volume up is on top, and volume down is on the bottom.   On the the top narrow edge is the socket for your stereo earphones or the included ear buds.  On the left of the bottom edge is socket for the USB cable. There is only one part of the cable that fits in here so you cannot make a mistake.  To the right of the cable socket is a slider switch. If this switch is positioned to the left the unit will play tracks in random order; if positioned to the right it will play  tracks in order continuously and start over when all of them are played.  The other slider on the bottom edge is the on/off switch.  On is to the right, off is  to the left. 

The player comes with one Chinese song and is partially charged.  To load your music plug in the small end of the USB cable to the socket in the bottom left.  If it does not go in easily you probably have it oriented upside down.  Plug the other end of the cable into an open USB connection on your computer.   Your computer should recognize the devise as a hard drive.  Now just copy your music files  into the drive.  You can also use the unit as storage for any other type of file but only mp3 and wma will play.

The unit charges while it is connected to the computer thought most USB connections.  However there is a DC adapter which is included in the package that will allow you to charge it without a computer.  Plug the end of the USB cable that goes into the computer into DC adapter, the other end obviously goes into the player.  The prongs on the adapter unfold.  Plug it into the wall.  It will recharge to 80% capacity in about 2 hours, or charge fully in about 4 hours.  When fully charged it should play for almost 12 hours.

Ok now i'll teach you how to play music.  First slide the on/off switch to the right.  Then press the center round button on the face and hold it down until the music starts to play.  Now you can jump to the next track by pressing and releasing the next button (right of center), or jump to the previous track (left of center). To pause play just press and release the center button.  To resume play press and release again.  To skip ahead in the same track press and hold the next button (right of center);  after about 3 seconds playing will cease and the you will be fast forwarding through the file for as long as you keep pressing, to resume play just release the button.  You can skip backward similarly by using the button to the left of center.
