So, outside of the play on the pun, what is wrong with creating jobs by upgrading infrastructure in the meat packing industry?
My question would be do we really have a lack of infrastructure in the meat-packing industry. I go to the supermarket & I see meat packed & delivered some fresh, some in cans, some in plastic etc.... Did I miss something about the industry. Where does it hurt? My second question is who got paid off by these awards ? Unions? politicians?

MO'FO:
Agriculture Sec. Vilsack: 'Purchased 760,000 Lbs of ham at cost of approximately $1.50 per pound'...
FOOD LION: $.79 Lb...

Apparently the Department of Ag. answered some question here. Apparently the ham is for food banks etc. A somewhat pessimistic cynic might wonder if the pork actually gets to food banks & further than that to the people who need pig for hunger's sake. Hormel looks like a Minnesota corporation headquarters & did contribute to Democrat Party(mostly Hillary).

Well i don't know, we need detailed descriptions of the projects. My biggest complaint with recovery.gov is that there is no links to detailed descriptions and actual RFBs and contracts granted.  But some of these projects might not be for infrastructure, they might just be to stockpile frozen meat.  These might be direct purchases from  medium sized businesses.  That might be a good way to put people to work immediately.  True, the businesses would get their share of the profit. That is a little bit weird ... i mean why not pay me to upgrade my warehouse, that is creating 2 temporary jobs too?  Personally i feel if it does put people back to work and their effort is not totally wasted, then it qualifies for stimulus.  The deciding point for me is what percentage of the money goes to pay wages that would not otherwise have been paid, and what percentage goes to overhead or just into someones pocket. Sans that kind of detailed knowledge, we are just speculating in the dark.
Well frankly, I think you pulled the infrastructure word out of your ass! I know it is a current shell game buzzword for the Obami to use when specifics are not forthcoming. Try improving that infrastructure with a cork.

Well your comment is needlessly disingenuous in the extreme.  Building infrastructure has been in the language of the stimulus from the start, as it was back in the WPA days.   Building infrastructure is always a good idea, it builds potential for future growth.  This is the first time i have heard a conservative ragger rag on that word again emphasizing that when you go out of your way to insult me, you are almost always way way wide of the mark.
Show me the WPA era use of the word infrastructure! The word infrastructure says just about nothing specific since it is general in it's nature. Those who would get sucked into change & hope would obviously get sucked into spending other people's money on infrastructureStick the cork back in!
Notice when your own ox is algored you forget all about the subject & get back into (you guessed it...)
