American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009

About: Waxman-Markley Boondoggle

~ Are you willing to approve such hidden tax on your cost of living just for the possibility it might have on a micro amount global cooling??
It interesting, but not unexpected that in spite of the uproar that came from some quarters about legislators who voted on bills not reading the bills they were voting on Waxman admits that he doesn't know what is in the bill he is sponsoring on cap & trade & other boondoggles. If anyone can point to the full video - just the eggregious part was excerpted - then please do so!
Kudos to the Washington Examiner for finding this jewl imbedded in the bill (HR2454):
source: ... “Title IV, Subtitle B, Part 2, Section 426, of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 states: ‘An eligible worker (specifically, workers who lose their jobs as a result of this measure) may receive a climate change adjustment allowance under this subsection for a period of not longer than 156 weeks…80 percent of the monthly premium of any health insurance coverage…up to a maximum payment of $1,500 in relocation allowance…and job search expenses not exceed[ing] $1,500.’”

...which they rightly question:
source: ... If cap-and-trade is an energy and global warming bill, why is a three-year package of unemployment benefits, job training and relocation expenses buried deep within its fine print? And why is a federally subsidized “job bank” needed if laid-off workers would quickly be rehired for higher-paying “green” jobs? The fact that generous unemployment benefits are buried in the bill means that “green jobs are bunk,” the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Ben Lieberman told The Examiner.
...

Quoth Allahpundit: "the fact that government has now decayed to the point where congressmen feel safe openly admitting that they don’t know what they’re voting on suggests a civic breakdown in need of emergency repair."

(Speed readers to the public notwithstanding)

(along with the president!)

These sssertions by the Heritage Foundation show the top 10 faults with the cap & trade bill:

Cap and Tax Top Ten List

1. Cap and Trade Is a Massive Energy Tax

2. It Will Not Make a Substantive Impact on the Environment

3. It Will Kill Jobs

4. It Will Cause Electricity Bills and Gas Prices to Sharply Increase

5. It Will Outsource Manufacturing Jobs and Hurt Free Trade

6. It Will Make You Choose Between Energy, Groceries, Clothing, and Haircuts

7. It Will Be Highly Susceptible to Fraud and Corruption

8. It Will Hurt Senior Citizens, the Poor, and the Unemployed the Worst

9. It Will Cost American Families Over $3,000 a Year

10. President Obama Admitted "Electricity Rates Would Necessarily Skyrocket" Under a Cap-and-Trade Program (January 2008)

...they also maintain a blog on the subject here. In his quote on number 10, Obama seems to think that the public should be forced to accept it as "the right thing to do"; although only 30% of Americans support such a scheme even less understand what the hell a cap & trade system is.

"We have so much room for improvement," she said. "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory ... of how we are taking responsibility."

Pelosi, who arrived Sunday, brought with her five members of a House committee on energy policy and global warming. A bill that would impose the first U.S. limits on greenhouse gas emissions was approved by a House committee last week, a step being considered by the full House later this year.

...Climate changing conference in China.  This shows clearly to those who wake up that the climate change bondoggle is squarely in the politics of power & control and has little to do with the Earth.
Do you want every aspect of your life controlled & inventoried by government? Big Government can't even tell you where all the TARP, stimulus money & budgeted taxpayer $$$ are going why give them a few more trillion$$$ to do the same with?

... & to crisp it all up the boondoggle exposed by Wikileaks:
source: ...

The US diplomatic cables reveal how the US seeks dirt on nations opposed to its approach to tackling global warming; how financial and other aid is used by countries to gain political backing; how distrust, broken promises and creative accounting dog negotiations; and how the US mounted a secret global diplomatic offensive to overwhelm opposition to the controversial "Copenhagen accord", the unofficial document that emerged from the ruins of the Copenhagen climate change summit in 2009.

... more at the source. It is not a surprise to me that this was going on.  What was a surprise to me is that somehow it got documented & then those who support the whole chicken little boondoggle still stroke their puds. In passing there is no devastation by hurricanes this season.  I wonder why the media keeps thinking that what "experts" say is worth publishing. They were wrong again!

Scams die hard, but eventually they die, and when they do, nobody wants to get close to the corpse. You can get all the hotel rooms you want this week in Cancun. The global-warming caravan has moved on, bound for a destination in oblivion. The United Nations is hanging the usual lamb chop in the window this week in Mexico for the U.N.'s Framework Convention on Climate Change, but the Washington guests are staying home. Nobody wants to get the smell of the corpse on their clothes
