SOCIALISM Step 8, COMMUNISM Step 1

About: peoples weekly world - speech the impossible becomes possible

~
Shared values bubble up in the Communist Party USA's publication the People's Weekly World. In the article one of their leader describes Obama's effect as "the impossible becomes possible"  Change the Communists now can believe in!
source: ... “What was once impossible during the Bush years has become possible, thanks to the election of Barack Obama.”
...shared values, eh?
  1. In this new political climate, we can foresee winning a public option, like Medicare, in the current legislative fight over health care reform.
  2. In this new political climate, the expansion of union rights in this legislative session is not only sensible, it’s doable.
  3. Much the same can be said about winning a second stimulus bill, and we sure need one, given the still rising and likely long term persistence of unemployment with the heaviest burden, as usual, falling on communities of color.
  4. Isn’t it possible in the post-Bush era to launch a vigorous attack on global warming and create millions of green jobs in manufacturing and elsewhere?
  5. And isn’t the overhaul of the criminal justice and prison system " a system steeped in racism and employing punitive treatment as it organizing principle " no longer pie in the sky, but something that can be done in the foreseeable future?
  6. But more importantly " and this is the nub of the problem " we have to reach, activate, unite and turn millions of Americans into change agents who can make the political difference in these struggles.

That last one portends more community organizing like the Obama Youth corpse.

One of the items I left out of the above was this:

ibid: ... We can imagine bringing the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan, while being part of a regional process that brings peace and stability to the entire region
...because apparently Obama's following Bush more than the Communist Party on that one.

Apparently he thought he was fired otherwise why all the news reportsif he still had the chance to adjudicate his firing? See Google as well here. Apparently the WH is now notifying Congress that he was fired?

It would be interesting to get the text of the law & see if it allows retrospective notification.
Even though the Senator who actually wrote the legislation stated  "that now puts the White House in full compliance with the notice requirement in the law," there is still room for doubt in MR's mind.
Here is the law: H.R. 928 of the 110th Congress states:
source: ... .... ‘If an Inspector General is removed from office or is transferred to another position or location within an establishment, the President shall communicate in writing the reasons for any such removal or transfer to both Houses of Congress, not later than 30 days before the removal or transfer. Nothing in this subsection shall prohibit a personnel action otherwise authorized by law, other than transfer or removal.’.

...the second section (b) uses the same language.  The Senate bill S. 2324 uses the same language here. Obama was a co-sponsor on Democrat McCaskill's bill as reported. It is probably moot since Walpin probably would not go back to a job with the president publically against him.  IMHO, he has some kind of job action lawsuit he can file. Because the president & the senator agree differently from what is written in the law & publically available does not mean it is legal to do so. Kudos to http://www.govtrack.us for publishing the laws Congress pass & the President signs.

Mark de LA says
While the senate bill never became law apparently the H.R. 928 did & was signed by George W. Bush - Oct 14, 2008: Became Public Law No: 110-409.

Well i tend not to want to impose my own interpretation of the law without knowing the details of the case.  I remain impressed by McCaskill statement that the WH was in full compliance.  I think it wise to wait for more real facts to emerge.

That does need some Congressional investigation.
... Well apparently that's what is going to happen ...
source: statement from McCaskill who wrote legislation mandating the 30 day notice
“Last night, in response to my request for adequate information on the firing of Inspector General for the Corporation for National and Community Service Gerald Walpin, the White House submitted a letter to Senators Lieberman and Collins that now puts the White House in full compliance with the notice requirement in the law.  The next step for Congress is to use the 30 days provided by the notice to seek further information and undertake any further review that might be necessary. The reasons given in the most recent White House letter are substantial and the decision to remove Walpin appears well founded.
Hmm.... I thought he already was fired.
And you got that impression where?  Thing is, the law is the law, and i think you will find this administration will be following closer to the law than you might have been accustomed to.

I saw the "before", your unnecessary insulting presumptions notwithstanding.  But like i implied we really do not know the exact details of why McCaskill said that they were in total compliance.  Perhaps we don't understand the legal status of his employment visa-vie this law.  You might want to keep track of it and report here when more facts are actually known.

PS, there was method in my madness of making a direct copy of memorandum yesterday.  That was i got a snapshot of the partisan blogging at a moment before both sides of the issue were exposed.  It will be interesting to watch and see if any of these bloggers ever get out of their partisan boxes.
Try getting out of yours first!

There is no other side in this comment.
Come on M, you know better than that.
The only thing to come out of the WH lacked details & contained a smear insinuating that Walpurn was "dazed & confused" which in my book implied drunk or on drugs. What would your interpretation be for why they published such a statement? Any doctor's opinions requested?

And you got that astounding revelation from which blog?
source: ...

WASHINGTON -- Responding to criticism from a Senate Democratic ally, President Obama explained why he fired the Inspector General of the AmeriCorps without the 30-day notification required by law, calling Gerald Walpin so "confused" and "disoriented" that there was reason to question "his capacity to serve."

While not exactly what I quoted it's close enough & sounds a bit gratuitously like he is implying something about Walpurn's mental character.

The point of my comment, of course, was that sometimes a news front stays only in partisan blogs.  This applies to both the left and the right.  I'm just saying that getting all your information about a issue from one partisan side will perpetuate that partisan bias.  As for me, i'm not really interested in this front until the other side shows up.
Sorry i meant "perpetuate" not "perpurtrate" whatever that might be.  Apparently the Google spell checker, which i rely upon, does not scan deep into a long complex structure.

Also now we note that the news front has disappeared from memorandum.  I'm almost curious enough to go find out what it was all about ... but i will restrain my curiosity.

Mark de LA says
The congress went on for years trying to investigate Bush's firing of ~5 attorneys general.  I wonder if they will spend any time at all investigating Obama's firing of Gerald Walpin or any of the other 2.  An inspector general in this climate of spending without limits, beholden to the president, is corruption beyond limits.

The Board & Corporation - presumably refer to The Corporation for National and Community Service(CNCS) which was the company being investigated by the IG. What a surprise the company presumably with the hanky-panky wants to fire the inspector with a smear.  That does need some Congressional investingation.
source: ... Reached at his home in New York Tuesday night, Walpin called the allegations in the Eisen letter “absolutely amazing.”
“Anybody who’s heard me speaking more than I’m used to speaking on radio and TV in recent days, obviously under great pressure from what happened would clearly know that I know what I’m saying and what I’m doing and I’m not incoherent,” Walpin told POLITICO. “There’s nothing confusing about malfeasance and there’s nothing confusing about what appears to be the fact that they terminated me because I was doing my job because the White House wanted to protect people who proclaim they are friends of the White House.”

There is no other side in this comment. Present one if you have one. The WH is busy smearing Walpin. You present a lot of links which I will not follow. Summarize your links.
This comment has a half-life of 1 day without such. As far as I can tell Obama broke his own law.

There i edited it for you.  This is a case where pasting of a direct copy from some websites into our RTE box may introduce extraneous markup.  The errors don't show up until after publishing. NBD!  We get this on character set discrepancies which then appear as question marks on a background of a little black diamond.  If this happens, then the most prudent response is to lop off the offending markup and characters when quoting or when editing the item.

The point of my comment, of course, was that sometimes a news front stays only in partisan blogs.  This applies to both the left and the right.  I'm just saying that getting all your information about a issue from one partisan side will perpurtrate that partisan bias.  As for me, i'm not really interested in this item until the other side shows up.

Status:
  • step 1 is in the breach in Congress
  • step 2 accomplished - GM & Chrysler union majorities
  • step 3 very soon
  • step 4 in Congress Waxman-Markley bill HR-2454 [see: item 11987]
  • step 5 unclear what's proposed there certainly SCOTUS & federal judgeship appointments will have a huge impact.
  • step 6 more community organizing - see HR-1388 [see: item 11698] if it becomes public again.

Mark de LA says
I also forgot (under step 2 above)  that the administration & the Unions champion the Employee Free Choice Act which eliminates secret ballots for voting on unionization. These are HR 1409 & SB 560.

Strangely provocative coming from Pravda this article from Russia:
source: ...

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.
Apparently, having come out the other side they can laugh at US.

Mark de LA says
... step 7 - Fire your inspectors general who watch what you do with the taxpayer money. Apparently the Obama administration doesn't want the public to know what is going on with your money.
source: ... The dispute comes as Grassley, ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, is looking into the abrupt firings within the last week of two other inspectors general ¿ one of whom was fired by the White House and the other by the chair of the International Trade Commission.

Both inspectors general had investigated sensitive subjects at the time of their firings.

Grassley is now concerned about whether a pattern is emerging in which the independence of the government's top watchdogs -- whose jobs were authorized by Congress to look out for waste, fraud and abuse -- is being put at risk.

... & others. In a totalitarian state there is only one opinion & the dictators spend your money where they want without any accounting.
