Rush: ... The St. Louis Tea Party will hold a press conference and peaceable protest at [Service Employee International Union] Headquarters [in St. Louis] at Noon Saturday... The protest is to demand justice for Kenneth Gladney, an African-American conservative who was brutally beaten by 4 individuals, at least 2 of whom were identified as SEIU representatives." This was at the Russ Carnahan meeting in Mehlville last night. "The beatings included racial slurs and required hospitalization of Mr. Gladney. As videos show, the attack was unprovoked and no one retaliated against the union thugs. This attack followed hours of taunts and verbal assaults by SEIU and ACORN members upon citizens gathered to express their views under the First Amendment. We believe this brutal beating is part of an organized plan to suppress dissent to the Administration's planned seizure of the medical industry in the United States

Rush: ... I'm sure the union members "acted stupidly." The union members were acting very stupidly here. We won't hear that from the administration. Remember, this is Obama's army. This is why they were sent! This is exactly why the union was sent out to these things. There was no violence. There were no people being shoved into walls prior to the union thugs showing up at these events, they were all peaceable. They were loud, but they were all peaceable.

...Why didn't Obama say the union members "acted stupidly" & then have some beer with them and the injured Gladney?

Sorry for "borrowing" from Rush, but he puts it so succinctly & the M$M blitz on painting the protesting of Obamacare as violent is distortion beyond belief!

On another note to revise some of Seth's distortion of the facts. The insurance industry helped develop this country by spreading the risk of undertakings. This is much like banks helped build the country by providing capital for undertakings by charging interest based on risk. Litigation is one risk. Life insurance is another. Health insurance is still another. Insurance for the uninitiated is controlled by actuarial tables based on the risk being insured. It is not based on greedy free market competition. It is also a regulated industry just like banks are regulated. Insurance is not a right! Insurance, like other private business is voluntary. You can choose to pool resources with others or go it alone. The reason health care costs so much is that doctors & hospitals have to insure their business against greedy lawyers! Another reason is that Medicare & Medic-Aid was invented which caused people to care less about who was paying the bill so competition suffered & prices went up. The third reason was that today's medicine is far more technical & advanced over the 1950's. You are paying for an advanced product, far more technical & expensive to develop & far more in demand. The only good way out of this hell (or catch-22) is to begin now to develop the principles I expressed in 12267. Ponder the analogy of health care to computers. You could complain about the cost & go back to the abacus - the choice is yours. The best revenge for high cost of health care is to lead a healthier life!

What connection is there with these thugs and Obama?

The Unions & Obama tightly support each other. Some of the thugs were union people. Remember that Obama gave the Union pension money to the Unions where all the other investors in GM lost theirs. Unions want Obamacare because then they no longer have to buy insurance they can shift their health care costs on to Obamacare & the rest of where government gets money - our taxes. The Unions contributed to Obama's election. Just like Bill Clinton's plausible deniability in most cases except Lewinsky the teflon don at the top rarely gets caught. Doesn't mean that somewhere down the road like Rahm, Axelrod & the like or others don't take action on the words of the Don .... "Punch back twice as hard...."

In an ironic twist of fate the protester who was beat up by alleged union thugs is accepting donations toward his medical expenses. He told reporters he was laid off recently and has no health insurance. Kind of brings to mind the question I asked on this blog last week: What if Republicans win the healthcare fight , won't we still have still have the present healthcare system with a lot of uninsured people imposing costs on us ... err people like our Mr Kenneth Gladney.

In the interest of the truth it must be said that some of the facts reported above are in doubt.

Yep, but you spin the rumor anyway! eh? On Cavuto today one of the protesters who was carrying a swastika was handing out leaflets supporting the Obamacare. Strange how the dirty tricks come out during elections & things which are controversial.

Well i didn't see where the Gateway Pundit website denied that Gladney was asking for contributions to his health care - for me that preservs the irony.

Actually, it only preserves the RWG spinning in your mind.

I don't know. I was just recording the news here and in [tag history tracking] so that i could perhaps watch the event unwind. But to answer your question: i've seen nothing factually reported about "Obama admin smearing him". My opinion is that it has nothing to do with Obama. However, it would be nice to just record the corroborated facts and find out what happened to the best or our recollection. That would be a good exercise. That was the spirit in which i was using your item. I've done that a lot on your items, in case you didn't notice.

This is a perfectly good item to track the event and it is the named topic. There is nothing gained by us jerking each other around and manipulating the flow of commentary. I think we should be respectful and tolerant of each other's way of expression.
