Google news front today is here. The WSJ seems to suggest in their opinion piece by a doctor that Obama really doesn't understand the practice of medicine vis-a-vis cost control. The Obami are big believers in Big Government & Big Regulation.

The reason that the volume is high is that the government both executive & legislative is building a monster law & bureaucracy for which the details are obscure & the motivation of the builders is not at all transparent. Another reason is that the people resent this government's crisis driven changes to areas of our lives that affect us the most without a pattern of success in any one of them. Show me the success in any of financial, alternative energy, medical (Medicare?), automobile, or any other areas of government control. Again I ask you what has government done which gives them the moral authority to say they have better ideas & results than the private sector. Indeed, the only thing unique to the government is bureaucracy & tax collecting.

Nope! It may go broke not because of the way it runs but because some administrations borrowed from the fund and didn't pay it back.

That's Medicare. It is rife with fraud. The taxes you pay into the system go into the general fund - the big lie of the lock box is a myth. There are simply more people getting old than there are going to be the bucks from the next generation to pay for it. Now add to that the load from Obamacare and you will accelerate the mess. In a way I like the idea because a complete collapse & subsequent wholesale replacement of government may be the best manure to fructify 12267.

The president seemed like a man long celebrated as being very good at politics—the swift rise, the astute reading of a varied electorate—who is finding out day by day that he isn't actually all that good at it. In this sense he does seem reminiscent of Jimmy Carter, who was brilliant at becoming president but not being president. (Actually a lot of them are like that these days.)

...I like Peggy Noonan she writes well & has a heart. Her analysis of the Obamacare politics is certainly not as barbed as many others.

Looking back, a key domestic moment in this presidency occurred only eight days after his inauguration, when Mr. Obama won House passage of his stimulus bill. It was a bad bill—off point, porky and philosophically incoherent. He won 244-188, a rousing victory for a new president. But he won without a single Republican vote. That was the moment the new division took hold. The Democrats of the House pushed it through, and not one Republican, even those from swing districts, even those eager to work with the administration, could support it.

This, of course, was politics as usual. But in 2008 people voted against politics as usual.

It was a real lost opportunity. It marked the moment congressional Republicans felt free to be in full opposition. It gave congressional Democrats the impression that they were in full control, that no one could stop their train. And it was the moment the president, looking at the lay of the land, seemed to reveal he would not govern in a vaguely center-left way, as a unifying figure even if a beset one being beaten 'round the head by the left, but in a left way, without the modifying "center." Or at least as one who happily cedes to the left in Congress each day.

Things got all too vividly divided. It was a harbinger of the health care debate.
