Junk Science: ...

Taxpayer provided welfare for the renewable energy industry became a lot richer yesterday as the Departments of Treasury and Energy announced that they were making $502 million in “grants” available to firms in lieu of earned tax credits. Apparently the tax credits weren’t worth anything since the industry has no profits.

The $502 million of stimulus funding supposedly will provide 2,000 jobs according to the feds. That’s only $251,000 per job — and all so that consumers can pay higher prices for electricity.

Whoever is being stimulated by this spending is pretty perverse.

Wikipedia: ... Anthony "Van" Jones (born September 20, 1968) is the Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ).[1] Appointed by Barack Obama in March 2009, the newly created position will find Jones working with various "agencies and departments to advance the administration's climate and energy initiatives, with a special focus on improving vulnerable communities."[2]
...One should wonder why BHO would appoint a lawyer/organizer to the post rather than a green scientist, businessman or manufacturer. Guess it's all about politics & spreading the wealth around since self-sustaining green jobs don't seem to be showing up in great numbers anywhere yet.

Van Jones media bias?

"Who's the real terrorists? Uncle Sam." That according to a record put out by Freedom Fighter Music, a label created by the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, which Van Jones founded. There are a number of different voices on the record, including that of convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal and Van Jones himself. One of the voices accuses the United States government of "Fighting terror with terror, bombing babies in the night." And then Van Jones appears for his cameo (at the 3:50 mark). Jones rants against the "Israeli occupation," calls for the right of return of the Palestinian people and then puts himself squarely on the side of America's enemies: "This is now a global struggle against a U.S.-led security apparatus and military agenda that impacts people here, it impacts people around the world, and I think that we need to see our problems as linked."

Is Van Jones part of a "global struggle against a U.S.-led security apparatus"? Maybe, or maybe like the 9/11 Truth petition he signed, he simply didn't read the lyrics too closely before he read them into the microphone, produced, and then distributed the record below. in the source above.  Van Jones resigned this morning blaming others of course. Kudos for the newer media the Internet & cable news. In the old days nobody would have known about him (see the media bias link above).

Congratulations, Wingnuts, for drumming out another person who's past views are not now politically correct.  Score one for intolerance!  Forget that people can learn and change.   Hyperpartisanship scores again! ... way to go! ... keep it up ... pretty soon nobody of any substance and experience will want to serve in government ... only the bland and squeaky clean need apply.
Van Jones was the living definition of a left-wingnut.  Apparently the self-proclaimed communist is Obama's equal-opportunity appointment for the communist demography. No thanks! Glad he's gone.  His appointment is an example of why people who are like cabinet level appointees should be vetted by Congress.

... & here's to all those green jobs:

Mark de LA says
source: ...

Through the grant program, $9 billion was spent to, in the end, establish 910 jobs that will last upwards of 30 years. That means those jobs cost, in the end, about $9.8 million to create.

Add in the indirect jobs -- high estimate of 4,600 -- and there are 5,510 total jobs (direct and indirect). Starting with the $9 billion in grants, the end result to establish 5,510 jobs averages out to $1.63 million per job.

... Solar cells expensive jobs probram.
I wonder how many jobs could have been created by buying the photovoltaic cells from China & then having them installed in the houses in the USA?
