Another Feature ...

The ability to expand or contract the items in a room to just the titles. Also provide that feature on a per item basis .

Another similiar feature is an item option to show comments on another page. If this option is set for an item, then in the aqua status bar it would show the number of comments and a hyperlink to the page showing the comments, probably just the permalink. This is similar to the way most blogs are shown. So on items on which i expect discussion i would opt against comments on another page, and for items that are just informational and control i would opt for this. The author has control of the kind of item.

... on this option the comment bar would be gone as well. To make a comment you would need to go to the permalink.

Right now I like the facility (this is a fastblogit) to go right to it and make a comment. I wouldn't mind shrinking the item to just it's title or just the title and maybe the last comment. I think there are many ways to doit. As blogs go, I don't like to navigate a lot just to make an entry.

... i am not proposing that we loose that "go right to it and make a comment" feeling. But this should be the author's choice. The author of the original item is in control of item and what subsequently happens to it. The author can totally suppress comments, suppress comments from people outside the group, and now with this proposed feature move the comments to the permalink page. I think this "author's control of his own blog" is an important aspect of this medium.

The problem with the current system is that comments are dominating and that is not necessarily the will of the author of each item.

... i guess u mean that the room redisplays from the top. Yes, we now have a way to keep the room in place and i believe i put that project on the plan. did u miss that?

Prolly did! I don't check the plan every time something pisses me off!

The plan needs a bug spreadsheet. I will make a spreadsheet of bugs, wishes & documentation if you request it. I need you to ask, though because it is a lot of work.
