The thought of all pervasive broadband was in Obama's SOTU; being at public expense even though it may not make business sense. I'm just looking at your fear of corporate manipulation, if that is what is happening, as an opportunity for government regulation. Frankly, it is government trying to regulate & TAX the Internet that bothers me.

Our communication spaces on the internet should not only be free of government interference, but also from corporate manipulation. These spaces are truly an extension of ourselves and as such should be exclusively in our control. That needs to become a human right.

Please don't connect that idea to the idea of free, as in no cost, internet access. Free of governmental and corporate manipulation does not imply a no cost service. Those are, in my mind, totally unrelated ideas. In fact when some government or some corporation gives you something free, they are probably doing it for the effect that they can have upon you, not just because they think it is something your should have ... witness free eduction given to you by the government.

However, i suppose i could connect it with my desires to see the internet go even further in the direction of personal freedom. I was referring mostly to the many levels upon which hex #23 applies - both personal as well as national & cosmic. Your point of view may vary what you see, as always. I do tend to agree on the freedom of the Internet. It is however a commercial enterprise invented by the government originally & nowadays seems to be thought of as a utility. All those things need to cooperate. Free broadband Internet for everyone is like free telephone or free food - not a function of government. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the economy out of government hands. Personally, I watched too much cable news (CNN & FOX) fascinated by the evolving story. Twitter is too small a lens. Video & pictures distort. That one picture that you published makes it look larger than it probably is. Most of the TV videos looked smaller. Is that likely to happen in this country if the government refuses to listen to the people & drives the country into bankruptcy & 3-rd world status - who knows? I doubt it - for now we can still vote.
