Interesting Pricing

About: amazon.com: righteous indignation: excuse me while i save the world! (9780446572828): andrew breitbart: books

I noticed that the hardcover is less than the Kindle & the audio version hosted on a different website of theirs is free for 30 day trial.

Yeah this book looks kind of pricy for a eBook, they usually run under $10.  You can read deep into the book online at Google.  The promotional free 30 day trial of the audiobook would apply to almost any book.   I wouldn't place too much stock in Amazon's comparison chart here ... it was obviously compiled automatically from undiciplined data ... note the used from $18 on a hardcover that sells new for $14.

The discovery was not so much the book, but the pricing & that apparently Amazon is getting into audio a lot more than I thought.

Are they "getting into a lot more" audio, or did they just make a marketing arrangement with audible.com ?

The url says "an Amazon Company" under the title.  I was just speculating. 85,000 titles is a lot of audibles. I don't know what they had before nor the exact nature of the current arrangement except it looks like purchased.

Perhaps robot pricing algorithms may also be an explanation: http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/web/04/25/amazon.price.algorithm/index.html?hpt=T2
