About: john mackey: to increase jobs, increase economic freedom - wsj.com

John Mackey nails it.
source: ... Most importantly, we need to radically cut the size and cost of government. One hundred years ago the total cost of government at all levels in the U.S."local, state and federal"was only 8% of our GDP. In 2010, it was 40%. Government is gobbling up trillions of dollars from our economy to feed itself through high taxes and unprecedented deficit spending"money that could instead be used by individuals to improve their lives and by entrepreneurs to create jobs. Government debt is growing at such a rapid rate that the Congressional Budget Office projects that in the next 70 years public money spent on interest annually will grow to almost 41.4% of GDP ($27.2 trillion) from 1.4% of GDP ($204 billion) in 2010. Today interest on our debt represents about a third of the cost of Social Security; in only 20 years it is estimated that it will exceed the cost of that program
Only if we focus on cutting costs in the four most expensive government programs"Defense, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, which together with interest account for about two-thirds of the overall budget"can we make a significant positive impact

IMHO, Medicine needs revamping to make it's evolution separate from the health insurance racket which only increases costs to the ultimate consumer. If someone else pays for the health care; who cares then it's not market driven.  Health is not a product - it is priceless; not a paradigm for suitable monopoly.  Additionally, we need to open up the healing arts so that MD's are not the only monopoly in town & effective alternative medicine is recoginzed. Additionally, nutrition & it's realationship to prevenative care needs to be wide spread & made independent of the monopoly of drugs & industrialized farming, the school lunch program, etc.
The military-industrial complex needs revamping for the same reason. I like being the most powerful country - that is not the problem.  It is the crony capitalism with the congress & ruling class regime that leads to vast waste & corruption.

I just finished watching the documentary "Cut, Poison, Burn" which I downloaded from http://store.nehst.com/cutpoisonburndvd.html ; free since there wasn't enough info on the website to figure out from what context the message was derived.  It was hard for me to keep from alternating between uncontrollable sadness, weeping & anger through most of the movie.
Here is just a start on some of the things that showed up after reflection:
  1. If the FDA portrayed is such a bureaucracy what happens if all medicine & money for medicine is regulated by Obamacare?
  2. We need a way to follow the money & show "We the People" transparency into who really represent us in governments at all levels if real transformation is to show up in our lifetimes.
  3. The same goes for the food industry.
  4. We also need to look at the other components such as psychosomatic, spiritual & alternative workings with new ideas.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same forces were not active in the mental health industry.  In the olden days they chained crazy people to the walls & beds.  Nowadays, they chain them to beds with drugs & sometimes 4-point restraint straps. Electroshock therapy & some form of lobotomy are not fully abandoned - even today.  The mental health industry does not consider schizophrenia & bipolar disease curable as far as I can tell & only thinks of it in terms of patient manageability.

Quoted near the beginning of Cut, Poison, Burn:
CPB:: ... “Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will come
when medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship to restrict
the art of healing to one class of Men and deny equal privileges to
others; the Constitution of the Republic should make a Special
privilege for medical freedoms as well as religious freedom.”
