Hmmm... I wonder under whose regime did it become politically incorrect to be a Christian?

Mark de LA says
Did you folks wonder why Osama Bin Laden was given a proper Islamic burial at sea after all the 9/11 killings & attacks on the USA.  In World War II they hung Mussolini upside down in the public square.

Mark de LA says
... & another thing, if you are a radical Christian sect you will get the wrath of Obama to commit US troops in Africa.
~
P.S. I don't claim these people are Christians any more than Osama Bin Laden was a true Muslim.

Well i don't think any US generals intended to insult Muslims in a Muslim country by burning their holy book.  Consequently it was a mistake.   Apologizing for a mistake is the ethical thing to do.   I think the apology should extend to finding who was responsible for it and punishing them.  I have no idea what "Cowards & Atheists", or 9/11, or what other people do,  has to do with taking responsibility for a mistake.
You wouldn't.  We discussed some of this when killings happened over a cartoon in a Dutch newspaper of the prophet Mohammed.  Notice how tolerant even you are of Islam killing people over perceived insults to their religion but how much you rile against Catholics. If Christians of today acted like many Muslims do you would get the point.  That's what this item is about.

@Seth - did you know that these Korans had AlQueda propaganda & plots written inside them?
To me that would be defacing them....
No i didn't know that ... where did you learn of it?   But even so, to me, it would not have mitigated the mistake.

So burning korans with secret alqueda messages is a mistake? It's hard to find the article I read or watched on TV right now - most of the news on the subject is all about the rioting as intended.

Your response to my reaction has nothing to do with my reaction.   My tolerance (of lack of it) for Muslims mis-deeds has nothing to do with my recognition that a mistake has been made by the American (or Nato) military against Afgan Muslims.  Your mis-deed against me, does not justify my mis-deed against you.  Even less does a unrelated partie's mis-deed against  a third party, justify your trespass against the class of the first party.  I hold you're "so's your mother" type reaction to this event with disdain and contempt.  It actually disqualifies you to speak on ethical matters.
Yep! Samo-samo Sammy!

Also note the "correct" attitude of the general in response to the event:
source: General Jacobson
“It is a grave mistake,” Jacobson told reporters in a briefing Wednesday, “and we’re all aware of the grave implications this mistake has.”
His reaction matches that of my own, in stark contrast to your spin.

Even if the alleged messages were dastardly, pervasive, and dangerous, the books could still have been handed over to a moderate Mosk for a more respectful disposition.
Maybe, maybe not.  This is how Iran treats Christians.  I don't respect any religion that does that kind of thing.

Answering the title question, it's the terrorism thingy, stupid!
We've been terrorised & apparently still are.

Mark de LA says
To believe that to burn the Koran (a book) is an insult to God (ultimate power) is to have your head up your ass! To then Go ahead & kill people & riot about it is the ultimate insult to God by insane people.

At least Ambassador John Bolton agrees with me. Newt may be a bit over the top - still he makes sense to me: http://bit.ly/ySnbvq - why apologize to be politically correct (lie) to appease.  He also continues the scenario in which the Islamist prisoners desecrated the Korans themselves.

Again, your tort does not justify mine (period). Any arguments along that line are null to me.
So I guess you represent the null set & shall be treated as such!

Yeah Newt and Bolton have taken the same opportunity to rag on the administration ... there are hoards of people always saying "tit justifies tat" ... and lots of those same people also think that they have the very best morals ... so i guess your attitudes are pretty common.

But, Mark, i am not persuaded by those arguments ... ever.  In fact, every time i hear somebody use that kind of argument i have a little internal barf .
WOW! This is not tit-for-tat.  If you bothered to watch what ambassador Bolton said .. we are not in Afghanistan to nation build nor please the Taliban nor Karzai - we're (paraphrased) there to ensure that that country doesn't again become training ground for terrorism in the Muddle East as it was before with Osama Bin Laden who caused 9-11. Weakness is no kind of leverage for diplomacy if you are trying to achieve anything without force. Especially with people for whom Death means 72 virgins and Allah's praise.  Maybe you would like the US to exit & usher back the Taliban & their form of extremist sharia law that subjugates women, keeps them away from school imprisoned in their houses & for violation of dress code can be executed in the soccer stadiums before crowds.

Bolton isn't running for anything. Sorry your null set item got deleted by accident! (really!) ... & apparently went null. Bolton didn't suggest any tit-4-tat or however you uncleverly put it. He suggested continuing to do the job we started out to do; previously explained. Perhaps the next time NATO can show Karzai & the World how the prisoners were desecrated their own Korans.
P.S. I really like that picture of the effigy of Obama with a stake up his ass!

you should delete yours too as it lacks the context of mine.
really doesn't need it - thanks for the suggestion.
