Party Platforms?

Presumably a party platform is a list of goals, objectives & principles to be followed by the people who belong to the party & in particular the president. In civilian life such would constitute the base for a quarterly & yearly performance evaluation of the employee. Anyone know what the 2012 platform looks like? Anyone know what the 2008 one looked like? Presumably the yearly state of the Union speech would act like a modification of the party platform of 2008 & then on to 2012 for things left unaccomplished. I would speculate that less than 0.1% of the voting population would even know what a platform is & least of all what's in it for the Democrats who are in power & even less for the Republicans who are running the House of Representatives. Consciousness & Integrity in the process of governing is a great start for transforming government to one that works & works for all of US. If the ruling class wants to make up their goals, objectives & rules as they go then that's the wrong direction & leads to corruption, tyranny & loss of freedom for everyone else.

I would like to measure both parties against their platforms before the election & then hold those elected in 2012 to theirs for the elections after that.

Presumably the platforms will show up for 2012 when the conventions are finished for each party.

I'm still looking for something sans spin which says "this is what we intend to do & this is how we are going to do it in specifics" that can be measured quarterly and yearly from now and beyond.

Funny thing is that it doesn't take a lot of money to do this. It doesn't take spin. It does take leadership, integrity, wisdom & consciousness. Can politics summon any of this?

The U.S. Constitution is the blueprint for the United States of America. Adopted on September 17, 1787 (224.61 years ago) it has survived & amended 27 times with small changes having large impact. This is a good model & place to start.

More likely that would exclude any interest.

My problem with this is twofold. First i don't like the party aspect of political control ... to me parties have become the worst kind of mobs. I would just as soon get rid of them all and just vote for individual politicians. In that case i would agree, the more specific a politician was about their intentions and the closer their performance tracked those intentions the better.

Secondly a platform is all about the election and what you need to say to get elected. It is not a contract of performance. There is a lot that needs to happen to change the former into the latter.

That's precisely my complaint & why platforms are ignored. They are mostly advertisement & pure political theatre.
On your political party hangup, though, you might as well say "lets get rid of groups generically". Then what? How will you begin to predict what a candidate will do in office without some kind of a contract & some indication of their guiding principles? In the end you are most likely to buy what bullshit you believe or just ignore it all like about 35% of the voting age people do & not vote. The polarity is good, imho, & strengthens both sides. However, if you are on the wrong side or the loosing side you may not like it much!

Well get rid of the republican and democratic party does not mean "get rid of groups generically". I am talking very specifically about two very specific institutions which have evolved so far away from their original intentions as to be irrelivant. Now they are nothing but power groups ... gangs if you will ... who function only to maintain their power. They take away from the power of the people.

Every candidate should have their own platform or contract. That is how we can predict and track their performance. So that is just your same idea ... only applied to individual candidates, rather than the whole party. Each candidate should be the focus of our awareness, not the party. Then if you make the platform more of a contract, instead of a promise, you end up getting closer to direct democracy.

Individual platforms would be interesting if treated like a business plan with all the details. I think Newt tried for years to build something like that with his PAC website but got all hung up in trying to win the nomination (money.......) The only way to make such happen is for one candidate to do it and WIN! Then everyone else will copy it. Remove the government from money & this would begin to happen all of it's own accord because money & politics would suddenly separate.
