The Bread and Circuses Presidency

About: democrats skip senate budget meeting | the weekly standard

... Why budget when you have a blank check instead?

source: ...
The Senate building stunt--including the clown and mindreader--was put on by the Public Notice, a non-profit group focused on bringing attention to America's debt problem, as part of the group's Bankrupting America project. The stunt was meant to highlight how the GSA wasted taxpayer dollars at their event. "It's a tough economy, so it makes sense for an experienced clown and mindreader to submit resumes to a federal agency that's shown a willingness to hire for those positions," Public Notice executive director Gretchen Hamel says in a statement. "In all seriousness though, the outrageous bills racked up by the individuals at GSA are symptomatic of the sprawling federal bureaucracy and its lack of accountability to taxpayers. Bankrupting America hopes this tongue-in-cheek show will highlight the wasteful spending occurring throughout the federal government."

The tort is not against the president, but rather against Congress not being able to agree on a budget.  You should credit the appropriate fight club here.

Hmmm.... whose strategy is it not to provide a budget for the last 1085 days? His party controls the Senate. He's going to run against his own party? Your cartoon should have Obama and the Jackass facing off!

Meanwhile back at the RWG ... Seth reframes Mark ... and Mark reframes Seth.
The obamafish is working quite well this morning!

(no solutions for the RWG yet, eh?)

I forgot to credit the cartoon source here which has some great materialof it's own in it.

The solution to RWG is simple, you already pointed it out.  The solution to republican/democrat fight club is similar.  But who is really into solutions ... the hot sauce of sensationalism is upon us ... the medium is the message ... try not to go with the flow.
It's kinda like the Golden Rule .... you go first!

We has almost reached the tipping point - ~half of all households depend upon government subsistance of some kind:
source: ...

49.1%: Percent of the population that lives in a household where at least one member received some type of government benefit in the first quarter of 2011.

Cutting government spending is no easy task, and it’s made more complicated by recent Census Bureau data showing that nearly half of the people in the U.S. live in a household that receives at least one government benefit, and many likely received more than one.

The 49.1% of the population in a household that gets benefits is up from 30% in the early 1980s and 44.4% as recently as the third quarter of 2008
