The CSS font-size statement does not work on the MacAir in Chrome

About: screen shot of three different browsers on MacAir

See the screen shots in the about link.  Font size is all screwed up on the MacAir when using a Chrome browser.  The display is correct for IE, Firefox, Safari, and even Chrome on a PC ... but on the MacAir using Chrome it is screwed up.  The page being displayed is template.html but that URL will be changing from time to time.

update 7/1/2012:  To be specific, the CSS font-size statements do not work correctly on the current Chrome browser running on a Mac OS X (Lion) operating system.  They do however, work correctly on most other Mac operating system.   Thanks to the Genius Bar at my local apple store I was able to test it on another Mac.

update 7/2/2012 :  I tried it on Chrome on latest version of  iPad and it showed correctly.  The bug only shows up on a MacAir running Lion.

I submitted a  bug report to the Chromium dev group: Issue 135476 (which has now been classified as WebKit-CSS)

updated 3/28/2014: Finally found out what was causing this ...

Further investigation. Out of the box my Safari and Chrome looked exactly the same as each other, not like your pictures. I noticed that the other text on the page is bigger in your chrome, not just the text in the coupon. The only way I could duplicate what I see in your picture is:

Chrome: Go to settings and select "Large" instead of "Medium" default font size.
Safari: Select the menu item "View/Zoom text only" and then zoom the page one notch.
... Thanks Nathan

Question posted to Google Chrome forum here.

Now you may well ask why i associated this item with item 15154.  This may well be just one of those little problems which falls through the cracks of an industry moving rapidly ... in fact it almost certainly is.   It bothered me because I am trying to move my focus onto the Mac and mostly Google provides my cloud services ... consequently it appeared that Google's Chrome would be my browser of choice.  I found that it did almost everything i wanted from a browser, bookmarking, syncing to my desktop ... so i invested quite a bit of time in adapting to it.  Then i got hit with the gotcha!

... & it plays badly with fastblogit!

Well yeah, and so does Safari.  There we have fastblogit as being the odd man out ... too bad, little me just cannot sustain the development that is necessary.

But Apple and Google are giant and certainly have the resources to make their stuff work together.  Yet they do not.

An interesting aside is that if you have enough dev resources you still can make a website that shows well in all browsers even on the Mac ... but i guess you do it by making browser exceptions in your code ... and that gets truly hairy ... not something that i can compete with.  Thing is I try ... i try to make pages that look good in all browsers ... but it got just too stupid to compromise the look in most of the browsers to compensate for the odd man out (in this case Chrome on the MacAir).  At some point, I will just have to accept that some people will see my stuff on a MacAir Chrome and see it as fucked up.

Well again here is a good example to exercise selective spending & use the alternatives to Chrome & Safari & Opera etc.   As evolution goes mobile it may just take them out anyway.

Well yes certainly.  For me that took the form of me switching back to Firefox on the Mac and investing time in their bookmark sync ... i spent more time doing that than i am going to admit.  So Chrome lost a customer ... at least for now.

But don't forget it's not just what i see ... it's also what other people see of what i write.  That came to fore last week when i was composing the father's day coupon here.  In the end, just to get the job done, i ended up compromising what most everybody saw on my website, just so that it would look acceptable on what i thought was Chrome everywhere.  But then Jason discovered that it was just my MacAir that was fucking up.  See screen shots showing both together below ...

Actually to totally integrate my pod, pad, air, desktop, and car ... it now appears that my best bet is for me to install Firefox on all of my screens ... the Apple/Google fight may just have far more implications than just a minor font size aesthetic.   A problem may occur when, as, and if i ever actually get a big screen TV and then that will need to be integrated as well.
