Pride an Glory in Your Code

If you have ever been a serious programmer you know what I mean.  You work on your code ... writing it in the most general way possible ... yet still the shortest possible.  Special cases ideally will evaporate all being handled by one simple generalization.  When you are finally through, it is perfect, an must absolutely work ... there will be no possibility of error.

which of course is why i'm not a fan of the ideal ... of utopia ... even of  the absolute resort of a spiritual world.  Reality itself is much better ... more reliable ... don't need to worry that it is going to break ... God, after all, is great ... even greater than your ideal.

I say this here ... obviously to barb you ... but don't take it personally ... no need to defend

If you are inclined to misuse the notion of ideals as spirit or being you may obtain some interesting clues from Peter on Pursuing Ideals in BofNK 19:30 et seq.

Note I always measured code against the specs, your results may vary.

In view of another thing that breaks consider that a budget is the specs for the American Economy.

interesting ... "The Specs" are always incomplete.  In my experience the best way to actually do something new is to make it up as you go along.  Of course, if you have done it many times before, then certainly you can write down the habit, and the changes in the habit, and call that a specification ... and then try to hold yourself to it in the thrust of the winds of change comming from the universe ...
... sometimes that approach does work.

Note my pecular term ... "absolute resort of a spiritual world" ... your, "ideals as spirit or being" does not capture or refer to the same thing at all.
What then did you mean by the context of it in
Seth above: ... i'm not a fan of the ideal ... of utopia ... even of  the absolute resort of a spiritual world.
... .. seems to equate spiritual with ideal ?  Note that spiritual as the Anthroposophists use it is very close to the word being. An Anthroposophist told me that.
None of that negates the need for a budget as the specs for an economy or a unit of the economy like the government's spending budget. Non-decreasing spending is not a budget.

& yet QA still has a job.

yep .... i think that was the original idea.  Reality is gangly ... it will certainly hair away from any particular generalization that you devise.  There will be exceptions.  Time will break your code.  Even QA is insufficient.  Don't bother defending it ... just let it go.

As QA there was never a piece of code I did not break; just deadlines to get it out to market. I do not understand the motivation behind this post.
to be honest, i wrote this item some time ago in response to another train of thought.  i'm just kind of trying to see if i can restor it's rationality in my own mind.
note it follows chronocially the paradox of otherness.

incidentally, i think a piece of code can be perfect ... it is it's relationship to some context that breaks.

Not in the sense that I think you understand it nor in the sense you are using it here!

in which case your comment is a train missing the station ... i have no idea what you are running on about.

You should interpret my "absolute resort of a spiritual world" in the same vein as Oscar Wilde's "ambition is the last resort of failure".
... or maybe & conversely an absolute resort to denial of a spiritual world which is also coincidental with BofNK & a fear of not knowing.

well, yes, i do deny that i know.  And i suspect that those who claim to know are lying to themselves and to me ... although they may not even know that they do not know.   Do you really think that you know?

Incidentally, "not knowing" (or "knowing") implies that there is in fact something to know ... me i don't even need to accept that implication ... for if there is nothing to know, i can make it up ... see "truth vs trumeth".
Consult the above as an excellent example of nothing to know, especially the trumeth bolus .

so are you saying that BofNK agrees with me that there is nothing to know ?
