Lpkb

One aspect of Lpkb has always been reasoning about action, a subfield of the logical school of AI. Now for everyday purposes logic is 'brain-dead' but the frame problem and the machinery used to solve it are quite interesting.

In brief solving the frame problem amounts to coming up with a way to formalise the commonsense notion that the effect of most actions is limited and that most properties are as they were before the action.

Interesting how these projects spin around. I remember David Whitten from when we were collaborating on pdkb which, if memory serves me, was our attempt to grok and have a really open cyc before CyCorp kind of opened it up themselves. I had no idea that you and he went on to collaborate on lpkb.

Question: are the files ending in .con the 300 contexts refered to in the introduction sentence "The knowledge base is divided into three hundred contexts" ??

Well there is the inference engine but i pre-suppose the general public has no interest in AI baby talk. I am working on an unrestricted natural language parser but it is *very* early days on that.

i would be more interested in a "urrestricted natural language parser" anyway ... even if it could just identify phrases or events or proper names.

In RAIN the (potential) unrestricted parser there are four classes
[e] events = 1000 entries
[a] actors =1000 entries
[o] other = 5000 entries
[x] xlinks = 50000 entries

Actors and events corresponds to nouns and verbs. Others includes all the symbols from the kb.
Xlinks were generated from any axiom in OpenMind that mentions [a] or [e] so are "close" to the kb.
Xlinks are just untyped links in a large semantic network.

What to do?
