Tipping Point Reached - Corruption Almost Certain

The America of my time line is a laboratory example of what can happen to democracies, what has eventually happened to all perfect democracies throughout all histories. A perfect democracy, a "warm body" democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction.... [O]nce a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader " the barbarians enter Rome. (Heinlein)

  • National Debt biggest in History
  • Voters vote themselves tax hikes in California in a recession due to slick adverts
  • People in mental health rehab get re-elected & corruption ignored
  • Main Stream Media chooses sides
  • Benghazi - leadership failure at many levels ignored
  • Money buys & spreads 4.2 billion worth of mostly lies & counter lies - why needed?
  • Unemployment 7.9% to 15% largest for a re-election
  • More people depend on government than support government - inferred by the national debt or maybe 47% (?)
  • See also the communist manifesto short term demands in Wikipedia.
  • PANDERAMA - constituency groups looking to Obama & visa-versa. (NEW)
Until the economy separates from government this will continue toward the ultimate corruption & the grand USA experiment will be over.
DID IT FINALLY TIP OVER? Obama calls for highest sustained taxation in US History

This is Greece when they finally are forced to make spending cuts.  I wonder what ours will look like when nobody buys our debt?
USA debt/person - $53,000
Greece debt/person - $41,000

Me i'm hoping for some even handed tax and spending reform to happens within the next 3 years.  There is still time.

If i were you, i would watch out for the self-fulfilling prophecy phenomenon ... err, unless you really do want that to happen here.
Politicians doing whatever to avoid unpopular choices want to kick the can down the road. What a surprise!  This happened for the last umpteen times the ceiling was reached.

Self fulfilling prophecy is bullshit! Being wide awake & forearmed is a much better standpoint.

Well i believe it is real ... and has been proven by cog-sci experiment.  It is kind of the flip side of LOA.

Self-fulfilling prophecy work on a societal level as well as on a individual level.

Sure you can mock it for a right wrong game ... but do  you really deny it happens?

Do you really deny that if you obsess on bullshit, you will get more bullshit ... whereas if you focus on truth, you will get more of that?
So where is that World famous example of self-fulfilling prophecy?  The San Andreas fault? Stay out of religion because that requires a different standard of proof!  I think you are just arguing for a stand something like this so that reality doesn't have to intrude:

Acts of God are obviously not what i am talking about.

There are two different kinds of self-fulfilling prophecies.  Individual and group.  It's easy to find examples that apply to individuals.  Every time you are afraid of failure and let that interfere with your best efforts, that is an individual example.

To find that same phenomena in group behavior is harder.  My theory is that what happens individually, also gets projected to the group.  If i come across a example that i think applies, i will report it to you.  Unfortunately this is in that grey area where to grock the truth of the matter one must give up one's egotistical biases .... i fear we will not be able to do it.

OTOH, belief in self-fulfilling prophecy is a catch-22 or at least an accelerant to the personal or mass hysteria - being necessary components of the self-fulfillment.

BTW, governments live mostly out of creating crises.  Crises are another form of mass hysteria. In times of abundance & peace there is little need of government .. just saying.  Without the mass hysteria of global climate change, a lot of the global bullshit would not be as deeply spread & the economic problems of the day would be far less serious.

Yep, You are still talking about something & have no examples of it! I say they don't really exist!

It' real, Mark.  Please read this Wikipedia article about it.  I don't really know much more about it than that, and how the LOA people have also used it,  it is pretty much common knowledge now.
KEWL!
Wikipedia: ... In other words, a positive or negative prophecy, strongly held belief, or delusion - declared as truth when it is actually false - may sufficiently influence people so that their reactions ultimately fulfill the once-false prophecy.
... sounds like groups of people believing in lies will make the lies become true & conversely. I still don't believe in prophecy; mostly because the future is imaginary.   I do hold that stupid people believing in stupid things will do stupid things - that's not prophecy that's more like behavior. I will concede that the distinction is in some cultures, but the antidote is raising one's consciousness.  Just like mass hysteria, there is no substitute for consciousness during these times. Even Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, Saddam Hussein,  & others  were able to get their people to do things against their own interests & created dictatorships, mass killings and the rest - mostly by force.

HARRY REID MOVES TO LIMIT OPPOSITION IN SENATE...

Claims mandate to raise taxes...
.
.
.
Some examples of that
seth: ... Me i'm hoping for some even handed tax and spending reform to happens within the next 3 years.  There is still time.
...

Please spell it out ... what is this "that" which my true statement is suppose to be an example of?
There is very little hope that any real kind of spending reform is going to happen with Harry Reid in charge of the Senate.  Now, that wasn't too hard to figure out, was it?

I still fail to see how my comment was an example of that.  I now think that you meant that Harry Reid's attitudes were a contra-example of what i was hoping for.

That said, and trying to get away from RWG, there were loads of quite exceptional spending cuts already put on the table when the Obama/Banner talks broke up for outrageous partisan reasons.  I'm still hoping that Obama will be able to get the job done in time.  Revising the tax code to eliminate some outrageous loopholes and at the same time not increasing the tax burden on the economy is going to take quite a bit of doing.  I've read articles which say it is possible.  I still think it will happen, Reid's partisanship notwithstanding.  Will you also be happy if it does?
I don't. The draconian cuts to the military & trillion $$ tax hike is what the sequestration is all about.  None of that would displease Obama, but it would probably ruin any chance for jobs. It all depends upon what the meaning of your words "it does?" mean.  Remember the last time there was a budget discussion with the Republicans, Ryan, remember him (?), was given a lecture on who won the presidency - not a bipartisan hand-shake.

Apparently Ron Paul tends to agree with me.
RP: ...

"We're so far gone. We're over the cliff," the Texas Republican told Bloomberg Television's "In the Loop" program. "We cannot get enough people in Congress in the next 5-10 years who will do wise things." The video can be seen at http://www.bloomberg.com/video/ron-paul-on-fiscal-cliff-and-vows-to-compromise-MYkAiqYBTaiHwXZL9Tvxkw.html.

Mr. Paul, who is retiring after 12 terms in the House, said voters on Tuesday rejected Mitt Romney because he had opposed the government bailout of General Motors and Chrysler.

"The people in the Midwest voted against him: 'Oh, we have to be taken care of!' So that vote was sort of like what we are laughing at in Greece," Mr. Paul said.

yes it is an accelerant to hysteria.  That is why it is good to always peruse a better truth .
There is no better truth than to become conscious of what is going on .

yep !   ... for some value of "conscious" there certainly is nothing better.   All hail a better consciousness!
For some value of "seth" the brain-pan is empty!

"better" is a better word than "is or is not" ... harder to get the brain-pan into a paradox .... i may not always know the absolute values, but i knows which ones are better ... just like when i pass somebody on the road, i don't usually know exactly how fast i am going, but i always know that i am going faster than the guy i just passed.

Better is mostly a one dimensional geometrical property. Try to order the Cartesian plane; closest to the origin?; closest to the X-axis; closest to the Y-axis ? how?  When you get into order theory you get complex in a hurry if you want to do it mathematically . Enjoy!

Ever wonder how lowly paid lawmakers leave office filthy rich?

Sen. Dianne Feinstein is showing how it’s done.

The US Postal Service plans to sell 56 buildings — so it can lease space more expensively — and the real estate company of the California senator’s husband, Richard Blum, is set to pocket about $1 billion in commissions.

Blum’s company, CBRE, was selected in March 2011 as the sole real estate agent on sales expected to fetch $19 billion. Most voters didn’t notice that Blum is a member of CBRE’s board and served as chairman from 2001 to 2014.

This feat of federal spousal support was ignored by the media after Feinstein’s office said the senator, whose wealth is pegged at $70 million, had nothing to do with the USPS decisions.

When the national debt is $18 trillion, a billion seems like small change.

Is money abstract or concreteponderingsmug How much would the debt need to be to show up as abstract or even still imaginary? Just rhetorical for now.
