The estimate is now:
source: ...

U.S. Population Reaches 314,159,265, Or

 Pi Times 100 Million

... which makes Obama's vote % of the population 19.9% or less than 1 in 5 !

yep
So my point, reiterated, is simply Obama should not assume he & the Democrat Party have a mandate which supersedes the US Constitution or law. He may not bypass the House of Representatives in making laws & spending bills.  He has less of the country behind him than the election shows, i.e. ~20% of the population spoke up for his campaign.

Well Obama won the election and now will be the president of the united states for the next 4 years.  If you are into the political gang fight in Washington, the blues increased their seats in congress ... and maintain the presidency and hence legislative veto power and control of foreign policy.  That is a distinct setback for the reds.  Beyond that there really is not much to say or emote about.  I am not one to shout about such things as mandates ... trending not to want to get my emotions involved in Washington gang fights.
You mind would probably have shifted had you been on the red gang. If you are broke do you ask to spend more? Someone in Washington D.C. should get a grip.

not sure what you mean by that.   I guess you are saying, that you were vested in the reds, and that your mind did shift ... eh?  So how did you mind shift ... seems to me that nothing in anybody's mind sets actually shifted.   The reds are going "oh shit" combined with a bit of soul searching.  The blues are kind of doing a vicgtory lap ... and speak a bit bolder ... especially Obama's latest proposition on the table which calls for even more spending.  Me, more and more it just looks like a game played by others, unfortunately they are using my money.
Your point of view all depends upon whose ox is being gored.

I have not heard that Obama is requesting "no spending limit".  What i have heard is that he requested that the congress doesn't need to separately vote on the debt limit after they have already allocated th money to be spent.  I suspect that is just something put forward as a token to be negotiated away in trade for something more important.  I think it is a twist to imply what you have implied.
As ever the partisan twisting Obamadefender spinning in the wind.  Geithner proposed it.
You are defending the fact that NOT serious negotiation is happening.

Sounds good .

Is not as you have described.
Executive power to raise the debt limit, proposed by Geithner our very own Secretary of the Treasury, is presented with a counter argument by a member of Congress. Such power essentially would do away with a spending limit.

So what happens ...  what should happen ..  in our new found collective awareness, is that people who continually twist facts for their own agenda, get filtered out so that their lies are not so very dominant in our consciousness.  Over time that should discourage people from speaking those kinds of reality twists.
Seth has suddenly found a new awareness of awareness . ... & is using it to do what?
Apparently his awareness has discovered partisanship as if there is a Democrat awareness & a Republican awareness ... Democrat lies & Republican lies .... Democrat spin & twists & Republican spin & twists.
No solutions seem to bubble up except the worn out Rodney King appeal.

Yep, seems good to filter out Obama's lies, the Democrat lies & the Republican lies starting with the Obama lies first!

Russia, China, North Koreans & Iran have censorship - isn't it wonderful to make only one point of view show up - i.e. that of the state?

Just trying to get the words correct.  Yours are twisting an awareness.  Geithner did not declare "no spending limit".  Nor am i defending what he did propose or that Obama proposed it.  I said nothing about that.  For a better awareness, try not twisting what you are aware of into something that is cute to mock.  That is one way for you to improve your awareness and that of any people who might just happen to listen to what you say.
Apparently I am not alone.

Well, as far as i can tell so far, your particular wording, "no spending limit", was invented just by you.   The NYT, the first article in your retrieval provides a more accurate and much different story ...
source: nyt
To ensure that there are no more crises like the debt ceiling impasse last year, Mr. Geithner proposed permanently ending Congressional purview over the federal borrowing limit, Republican aides said. He said that Congress could be allowed to pass a resolution blocking an increase in the debt limit, but that the president would be able to veto that resolution. Congress could block a higher borrowing limit only if two-thirds of lawmakers overrode the veto.
... Now i wouldn't myself vote for that,  i don't believe there is any chance that it will pass into a law; nor do i suspect the president himself thinks otherwise.  Obviously it is a move in a political game.  But whatever it is, it is not something that should  be described as superseding the House of Representative's constitutional responsibility to allocate spending.

Well, more legal sounding, it has often been called "executive power to raise the debt limit".

Yes, that gets us to a better awareness.

It means something very much like the spam filters which allow me to see only emails that interest me, rather than ones about the size of my dick.  It is like the filter that some of my Facebook contacts implemented against you so that they don't need to be bored by your rwg transactions with me.  Filters work ... they need to be improved ... but they do work now in social media.  They are one of the things that have bubbled up.

Note that censorship by government is not the same thing as people choosing to apply filters themselves.  Gmail, or the Obama administration, does not specify the filters ... i do ... you do ... every individual does.

I think this is where this came from ...

source: Taking the Threat of Default Out of the Debt Limit

And the way that works is the President would have the obligation periodically of requesting an increase in the debt limit, and then Congress would have the chance, then, to express its views on the merits of that proposal by disapproving that. And then the President would have to decide, if a bill came to his desk, about whether to veto that or sign it.   Of course, he’d veto it in that context. And the virtue of that mechanism proposed by Senator McConnell, a man of impeccable conservative credentials, is to make sure that the country is not left at risk of periodic threats of default.

My opinion is that, on the one hand Congress must maintain control of what is spent ... yet they should not have the ability to send a signal to the market that the US might not honor all of its debts.   Whether this proposal would do that effectively with no other unintended consequences would take a lot more research.

YEP, it's just your opinion!
What an utter wast of time response to a comment.  However, it is a perfect example of why The Quality of Our Collective Awareness needs to be improved.
