It is interesting how different these lists are.

Logic does not cover all conversations nor all arguments. I keep bringing up the triad Logos, Ethos & Pathos which are the juice of most public conversations like those on political matters. I don't know the derivation of your lists. Aristotle, Socrates & the like sourced the above on rhetoric.
Good to know, eh?

Sure it does ... "don't spoil other people's fun" ... or more generally, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
The point is that we don't communicate just to argue and persuade the other. We communicate to express beauty ... and many other things ... as well as to find, perceive, and build a better and better reality.

You just made up your own rules.

Sure we use whatever tools or tactics we have to change other's beliefs. That is frequently our purpose and agenda. But it is not always about our agenda ... we do not always communicate to persuade ... many times we communicate just to have social fun ... other times to cooperate to find a better reality. Persuasion itself sets up a i'm-right-you're-wrong situation going.
I still think the logical fallacies are things to be avoided at all costs. I liked that the second list coded them as ethical and or religious commandments. Imho, that is what they should be. Of course for poetic, or pathos or intense emotional impact they can be used ... but they should not be the default poise ... that is just disgusting.
My primary interest here was just that i noticed that there is not any really authoritative list. And finally i got a definition of "Begging the question: Thou shalt not argue thy position by assuming one of it's premises is true". I think we all intentionally say things all the time that call forth obvious questions. Lots of times i will think (or say) that begs the question "yada yada yada". Saying something that begs for obvious question to be asked is not breaking a commandment of logic. So when would this commandment apply?

There is more than logic that has to be used for persuasion otherwise drunks wouldn't get drunk, the insane would not commit suicide to escape & suicide bombers wouldn't do illogical things to get 72 virgin (sheep?) after death. Fat people would not eat too much if logic persuaded. Logic persuades only the intellect at best. Thanks for the list. Nothing new in it. Be rational & act from the heart.
