hmmm ... why is it that you can't seem to talk about something without making me or you the subject of the discussion?

Is the message in this item about Obama or is it about Americans wanting free stuff from the federal government?

Have you not gotten the Gestalt that Americans do want free stuff from their government?

... and that they want that quite independent of Obama ? ... wanted that long before Obama came on the stage ?
Have you gotten that the message I put together is exactly what it is & means to me one thing & obviously another to you because you are an Obama subject?

Yep i saw your message.

I am attempting to take what you have said and put it into a context that might perhaps go beyond your message to what is a more interesting perspective to me.   That is, after all, why people communicate with each other.

For me the realization is that  many American citizens actually do covet free stuff from their government.  And what is more when they get it, they didn't really need it, and their getting it probably did not have the positive effect that the politicians claim for the intention of the grant.  For me at least, that was a really big gestalt ... had it quite a time ago ... but your cartoon brought it back to life.

Now it is clear that the democratic party, and Obama as their spokesman, pander to that want.  Obama's words are pitch perfect in the articulation of the righteous view of that want ... but not of course of the averous view of it.

I think the Republican party needs to get that message across and articulate it.  They need that message to stand out on its own.  They need a pitch perfect articulation of the evils of trying to satiate that popular larceny.  Romney actually did try to do that ... but his pitch got confused with his own aristocratic attitudes.

My message to you is that, at least in this case, to attack the messenger is to loose the message.  The message itself is far too important to get lost.

Now, without attacking me for saying that to you, do you at least understand what i am saying?
I get what you are saying.  I disagree with your view of Obama's role. Doing much little else other than pandering has been Obama's flag of occupation.  I keep saying it in Heinlein's words from long ago: "A perfect democracy, a "warm body" democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction.... [O]nce a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader " the barbarians enter Rome."  The message hasn't changed yet. The Tea Party tried, but Santa Clause prevailed in 2012.

Obama is kinda like the queen of England - really has nothing to do with the way the UK is run but she is an icon image to put on the UK pound note. Obama is an icon continually showing up on TV to remind you that the USA government needs more & more of your money.

it's not about that, Mark.  try getting the Gestalt.
Yes it is!

As an excuse, blaming it on LBJ, is pretty lame. A leader takes the blame. A puppet gives another speech blaming it on his opponents. A leader has integrity & accomplishes what he promises & promises what he can get accomplished. A puppet just promises.

i'm thinking that your message here might really make it's mark better if you made it not about Obama.  That just confuses what otherwise is an excellent message.

Government programs grant American's free stuff.  Perhaps Americans should change their minds and not want government to give them free stuff.

It has nothing to do with Obama ... that is a misdirection, that dilutes and confuses you message.
Lets get a president who governs & is responsible for something then.  4 years of a bad economy, unemployment, multi trillions spent & he is responsible for nothing!  He had 2 years without any opposition focusing on jobs (he said) but he rammed through a tax scheme to socialized medicine instead - not responsible for that either nor the increase in insurance premiums.  Benghazi - still no real answers - told Panetta to do what he had to & then where was the machinery of government ?  out campaigning while our ambassador was killed in Libya.  etc..  yet he doesn't have any responsibility for anything.  He's just a teleprompter who wants to take guns away from the people. ...... guess why?

whatever ... you have just underlined that, for you, it is just all about Obama, and not really about what is wrong with the federal government.
Like Obama still has nothing to do with the federal government.  Kewl! Lets get rid of him!

Obama bemoans not being emperor in 2 videos here; blames it on Congress.  The second one on immigration fails to notice that law-breaking immigrants should be prevented from entering the USA - that's already a law he doesn't want to enforce.

Here is your message.  That was what actually got my attention.  That is the problem with the federal government that needs to be examined.

Any deflection from that message to other symbols or personalities is a distraction and dilutes your message.
We each hear and recognize what we want. You forgot that government was labeled Obama in the cartoon which you cut off. Obama is responsible for nothing? That is your message.

I did not forget Obama in the picture ... in fact i intentionally cut him out of it.

I did that just because ...

my message is that the problem is not about Obama and that making it about Obama is a distraction from the actual problem.  It confuses our recognition of it.
That's very telling that you cut out the point of the cartoon. It confuses you.  The voters in 2012 were confused as well. They didn't hold Obama to account for his record because in their mind he's not responsible for anything in government.  He's just Santa Claus - freebies until the barbarians enter Rome.

My point is that Obama is an articulate spokesman and administrator for the direction that many citizens in the country want to go.  It is the hearts and minds of those citizens to which your messages should be addressed.  When you make it about Obama personally your message does not get heard.

Either that, or your message is not really what it purports to be.
I am so amused that you think you can tell me what my own item & message is. I'm glad that you didn't call Obama a leader. Incidentally, Jay Carney must be the spokesman's spokesman, eh? The president is an empty chair.

Hmmm... Obama is not even responsible for his own words or his own projected personality that he rubs via the M$M in our faces daily!

Let me say this another way ... eliminating yourself from a topic of the conversation:

If the message is the part i cut out of your cartoon, then it is not about Obama and the association of the message with Obama confuses and dilutes it.

... conversly if the association of the message with Obama is essential to the message, then the message is about Obama and not about the part i cut of our your cartoon.

So which is it?   Is the message about Obama?  Or is it about what Americans want?
Nice attempt at something or other. If I cut off half your sentences is it about the part I cut out or the part that was left. I say the message stands as is without your manipulations.

no sarcasm intended.
Well, most politicians will exploit anything.

OMG ... yes

Certainly something we want our politicians to comprehend and not exploit.
I don't get your comment as other than sarcastic, was it? It is a principle to be recognized & something else created in it's place .... say threefoldness.
