External actions. These should not be disturbing for our fellow-men. Where an occasion calls for action out of one's inner being, deliberate carefully how one can best meet the occasion " for the good of the whole, the lasting happiness of man, the eternal.

Where one does things of one's own accord, out of one's own initiative: consider most thoroughly beforehand the effect of one's actions.

This is called: ... ‘RIGHT DEED.’

It is important that you get clear for yourself that your only access to impacting life is action. The world does not care what you intend, how committed you are, how you feel or what you think, and certainly it has no interest in what you want and don't want. Take a look at life as it is lived and see for yourself that the world only moves for you when you act.

It is interesting that GW in the cube has the Power of the Deed associated with Taurus ("R") - the path between Netzach (Victory) and Tipareth (Beauty) which is correlated with the sense of thought .

I think deed vs action is a matter of the whole event vs an individual action.

any agent, even a machine, can perform an action ... but when we talk about a human performing an action we use the word "deed". the distinction is all just in the language ... in how we talk about these processes. when we perform some action it feels like something and has an emotional and even consequential impact, not only on the person doing it, but also potentially on others. that emotional impact is why we need a more impressive word to refer to it. great stuff, these deeds, eh?

. we also distinguish a deed from a mere action by virtue of whether it is free or not. if you wired a human so you controlled him from your consul like in the movie fahrenheit 450, we would not ever talk about his actions as being deeds.

but Christ has way too much baggage in our culture ... way too much dogma and forgotten associations for him to ever be a useful symbol that i can share among people. my interest in "him" is that of an archeologist. unfortunately the church stands in the way of that kind of a understanding. rather i like elaine's opus in this regard.

Having done a lot of his "work" I can say with certainty he was not talking about thoughtless action. He put a lot of emphasis on integrity with what one is doing & enrolling others in one's vision/possibility.

Dude, it's about your nothing needed except action thingy "just doit" rants. No thought needed.

there is no such thingey. there is however a item titled "Action ... is pure. It needs of no rationalization." thought or semiosis is essential to human life and culture. we would be mere base animals without it.

But when it comes right down to action it frequently gets in the way. Then the truth of the deed only requies its doing. Just do something!! ... see if it is not better ... more pure ... more true, than any thought yuou could possibly have about it.
