Otherness is Just a Sleeve-Job

About: Legman - Rationale of the Dirty Joke

... A story you tell yourselves to make yourselves unique ... trying to add value to the ego/self machinery where none exists. For what purpose? Well, that's all in the story & the telling of the story & whom you get to listen to it & how long they listen.
.. worthless or priceless IS all the same!

Otherness at the species level?

My life has ultimate value to me.   It may have little or no value to my city, or my culture, or to you.  How i live my life can change those values.  Those are the things i think about in the context of "value of myself".  You, of course, will think about your value to yourself and to your culture quite differently.   How you think about that is quite otherness to me ... but if you talk about it honestly to me i might come to understand it.

You see,  "otherness" is a term i use to talk about what is not me.  I wouldn't  use "it" to tell a story about myself.  That would be a confusion.
Yep, contradiction is your finest asset - it goes well with your ego. It is probably too zen, too tao, to notice that talking about other is the flip side of having an ego. Can't talk about something you are not unless you exist.

Well, it is certainly true that the full picture of what a thing is, totally includes what it is not.  However, the "Tao" is not an excuse to confuse what is with what it not.  Existence is still asymmetrical .... and confusing something with what it is not, is still going to get you into grave error.
Someday you may grok the Tao, snuckkkkk not today!

There is no foreground without a background & visa-versa - no confusion (at least here)
hmmm ... i wonder if it can be seen that saying that is also saying "the full picture of what a thing is, totally includes what it is not".
Yep, you would be confused doing that.
i.e. It depends upon where you place your conscious attention.  The existence of one depends upon the other.

Try the Golden Rule if you need an ethic or moral.

Just because you make a distinction doesn't mean I have to respect it. Some are good, some are bad & they are things you created. Not all distinctions are created equal.  Some, for example, are incomplete or inaccurate.  An Afro-american  does not have black skin it comes in all shades of brown, yellow, red etc. Ditto for Caucasians.

yep all true sentences

Look, the next time someone else does something that you don't like, or acts towards you in a way that rubbs you the wrong way, or gives you an idea that you don't like, try to respect that they are comming from a space that you do not know and are just as righteous in their space and in what they do as are you.  Don't try to change them, don't try to make their idea absurd.  Respect them or their ideas as different than you ... not you ... and not necessary to be judged by you.   the rest of our conversation about this is getting so abstract and right/wrongey that it is deviating from the simple attitude that i am proposing ... that incidentally actually works for me.
Like I said way back - Otherness is Just a Sleeve-Job - nothing to worship; being a useless distinction that we all make because we have an Ego.

Seeing the black create the white, does not make the black white.  Knowing the unity of you separate from me, does not make you me.  Feeling the up creating the down, should not stop the vibration.  I respect my otherness, i do not destroy it  ... Hallelujah !

Nobody said what you imply in your premise. You just can't have one without the other in the symbol. I like the #BofNK on distinctions better.

It is all about you making the distinction.  Is it real or just a distinction you made up? BofNK24:15 - 24:29 ; especially the last two paragraphs & ...
...
Power lies in making distinctions.
Freedom lies in destroying them.

Well yes certainly ... truly making a troubling difference go away is sublime!  Respecting it is a step in that direction
The troubling is in your mind.  The difference is in your mind. Respect for what?

Well sure, in that same sense, everything is "in your mind".  Respect for otherness it my point ... it is an attitude i adopt towards that which I am not.
From opinions to attitudes now .... what next? What exactly are you arguing for? Still got your mind in racism? Can't get up to humanism yet?
