Have you been able to get pear to work ? When I couldn't get it to work a couple of years ago (or get answers as to why) I gave up on php!

Seth says
i don't think that pear is installed on our site. what evidance did you have then or now that it is even installed?

Mark de LA says
That was the problem then, trying to get it installed on my local machine

Seth says
well it certainly would help if you would install it on our machine

Just trying to accurately convey my feelings about it. (;-))

Actually, part of my problem was trying to get it to work on windows. The purveyers of Pear had a unix script only.

another potential prob even on the unix is that it may (i dont know) require php 5 or mysql 5 which we dont have yet

BTW there is a pear you can get to thru the command line on the server or putty. You may need to master the doc for the command line though.

Just type in to a command shell at the ISP "pear help options" & you will get some clues. It is & has been installed. I would have to want to do something with it to push much further. (You do get a bunch of errors & eventually the requested output.  I don't know if the setup is ok or not - I haven't used it for anything useful. Maybe should try it, eh ? I'm sure the techies can explain it.

Yep.  I found out that all the errors you get are because of duplicate references somewhere under /etc/php.d ... i removed the odbc.ini, ldap.ini, and imap.ini files from that directory and lots of those error messages went away.  I left the others because am not sure that they were not being used.
