WE
"What’s the matter got a turd in your back pocket?" was the usual response during childhood when I used the word WE in conversations with Genesthai; assuming I was talking about both of us. Such turdy in the back pocket kind of thingy henceforth shall be called a birdie & the icon below seems appropriate for such.

Well yes of course, were i to to speak for all of humanity, then many people will of course object ... either because they do not consider themselves to belong to what i define as humanity ... or that they do not believe that what i say speaks truly from that group's perspective.
An election is not necessary ... nor even as you know practical for people to speak "we" for a group. Lots of times in group discussions people will summarize the consensus of the group ... when they do so that are, if they speak honestly, speaking for the group. The people who do so are not usually the elected head of the group. Rather they are just a member of the group who thinks that they have grocked the consensus and that it needs to be said. Obviously any member of the group upon hearing the proposed consensus can object and disagree and in fact they frequently do.
You may think i am just arguing here to be right at the expense of you being wrong. But i am not. I am attempting to clarify this usage of "we" so that every time i use it you will not be misunderstanding what i am intending to say.

Well of course a speaker says "we" just when they believe that they speak for a group of people in which the listener also belongs. Obviously the listener may either disagree that he belongs to that group ... or that the speaker actually does speak for the entire group.
I don't see what more we need to say about this. Do you?

I already said what I already said - arguing the arguosity of argumentation notwithstanding.
A person speaks for a group which recognizes him as the leader of the group. A head of family can speak for the family. A head of a company can speak for that company. So far nobody elected Seth as head of humanity. WE notion rejected there - that's a birdie!

How will this work, then, since you seem to elect using the editorial "WE" so often trying to gather ethos to persuade ([see: item 17204]) - I will just comment "that's another birdie" & opt myself out when I disagree with your rhetoric; likewise opting out of arguing the argumentation of arguosity ->> infinity.

Not true ... when i say "we" i am actually proposing to my audience that there is a group of us for which what i said is true. It is up to you to determine whether you want to be included in the group or not.

This is simply a small, micro wake up call to jiggle your awareness, if any, to the fact that when you say WE .... you are really just talking about yourself.
Now go back to sleep ...

Now go back to sleep ...

Sorry, some people just can't or won't wake up out of their continuous argumentation of arguosity. This must not be for you.
These are not the droids you are looking for:

i use "we" to propose that everyone who assents to my proposition is a member of the group refereed to by that pronoun. When i use we, i almost always do it intentionally.
IOW - "We" covers everyone who agrees with you including the mythical turd in your back pocket.

I like the synonym selfie as well - since it is a mirror image kind of thing of one's Ego enlarged to fit posting to Facebook or some other social media ego-puffery.
