Sentenced Them to Anonymity & Obscurity

About: just another atrocity

II wonder if it is possible that miscreants of social life could be sentenced to anonymity & obscurity & the news could of their own free will refuse to cover & bloggers could turn their heads to those who feed their egos with atrocity.
I am a great believer in the freedom of the press & the rest of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Nevertheless, & spite of it there exists political correctness, broadcast codes & the FCC, & laws covering the conduct of election campaigns; all of which in some way violate the sense of freedom obtained from the first amendment.
Can news outlets just begin to forget rapidly what happens in an atrocity once it is known what happened? Furthermore can we the people exert pressure on news outlets & blogs by donating our ears, eyeballs & money to other sources & otherr products.
Can such a movement produce a result in the Internet Age?
I have myself refused to read any of the details in the story of the link above. Once I learned of another atrocity I switch TV channels, news blogs & speed by coverage in social media. It would be nice to see if this effect could be memed & measured. Can the hunger for gossip & salacious details be sacrificed for bringing about an end to atrocious anarchy?

Where does one acquire the will to change a point of view or a thought? The same can be asked of feelings toward something or someone or some idea?

Omphaloskepsis may be the answer or maybe that is why things are NOT changing.

Actually in this case i am glad that i know about Elliot Roger's motives. It was a surprise to me that a person could grow up in our society and harbor such an intense jealousy. I have never personally encountered that in your face egotism ... unquestioned by Roger's himself as if he had a birth right to his jealousy ... an absolute obliviousness to otherness. That was a story that needed to be told.

The main point here is not fostering more atrocities by giving being to the egos of people like this. But, hey - some will get through. The media is a whore anyway & getting worse. Just out of curiosity why do you need to know that story? One can visit many nuthouses & find any kind of aberration you choose. The permutations & combinations of "evil" abound. Electronic media spawns this kind of stuff in TV programs & games. How to do it without laws & transform the evil into good? Who knows? A similar problem exists with terrorism or the religious kind. Some say it is this era's task to figure this one out. I say less sensationalism might be a good start - but voluntary NOT government enforced.
P.S. I think singing & dance competitions are a lot better to watch than cop shows (imho)

The environment & society that produced the Hunger Games & it's intent might well be examined for clues.I wondered about that when I watched it.

Yeah i got that. Actually several channels have avoided talking about Roger's details, and have explicitidly stated that they were doing that. ... others have not so avoided that. So at least some of the media seems to be going in the direction you indicate.

... like i said, i have never encountered this level of obliviousness to others, or lack of empathy, personally. However dastardly it is, Rogers expressed it acutely and boldly with nary a hint that it was off the wall. Watching the short youtube video of him talking was a

for me. Knowing that a person can get their being so completely turned around, and the consequences of that, is just part of the WORLD that i need to be aware of. I think that logically i already knew it, but had never actually experienced hearing that blatant level actually voiced.

avoiding evil by navigating my own soul to other contexts is certainly wise ... a direction that i continually choose. yet being oblivious to the larger terrain is, me thinks, not just a little bit foolish. in a way that is a nasty job, but some of us have to do it ... er, no?

When something horrible happens such as 9-11 or the Boston Marathon bombing or school shootouts there is a lot of self-examination which tries to understand why? Why is an endless question - eh?

Werner's thought seems to be a complete rejection (disrespect) of representational mind ... accepting experience itself as all that is necessary. Me, i'd like to visit that, but i don't want to live there. Especially since so much of modern human life actually happens in changing representations and in their shifting relationships to experience ... and not merely in experience itself. That is just the way i experience this ball bouncing.

Asking why is the process of recognizing patterns of cause and effect. Once recognized those patterns can be used for rational prediction and/or avoidance. In this case I recognized a pattern of extreme obliviousness to otherness ... a total lack of feeling empathy for others ... a pattern to be avoided.

With understanding also, besides mismatching my point, you are making up stuff that may or not be inherent in the actual experience especially if you have to read the news & other's accounts to find out what is up. Behind the walled garden of your own mind it is hard to see over the wall - otherwise you would already understand. Personally, while some do, I don't want to crawl inside the mind of a miscreant to find out. Your mileage as always will vary. Not all "not-ME(s)" are worth exploring.

Actually what i said about Werner's thought above seems now to apply only if it is taken, as you did, as a reason not to ask why. When i analized it, obvioulsy in my own mind, carefully it seems to just state, what is not controversial, that our understandings should never be used to trump experience ... that would be a booby prize.

I listened to short snippets of Rogers thoughts and attitudes. I did recognize a syndrome. Obviously i could be mistaken ... but i am not necessarily mistaken. You seem to be saying to me that i should not have recognized that syndrome and said so out loud. Well i still think it is an important syndrome to recognize.

Well maybe or not. Some say that you get more of what you focus on than not. At least d'A is focusing on playing & fun & appears to be getting more of it.
Unless I were a psychiatrist - the ones I have met are crazy in themselves - I prefer to focus on what I would like rather than mismatch what I dislike.
