Dictatorship of Impersonal Economy by Pope Francis

About: the value spectrum in our culture

Well said

i'm glad that the Pope himself has come out against the glorification of money in our culture.

He has said it quite clearly here in this one thought with nothing about his religion munged into the message.

Imagine you don't have a sharp hair in the wrong place bothering you about capitalism.
That is about me, and is off of our topic.

A person's time is both priceless & worthless - at the end there is no more.

yet our society currently has a market for a person's time which attempts to minimize its value.
Except for labor unions who do the opposite. Why blame it on the faceless, bodyless "society"? Meanwhile we have the priciest politicians in the World.

well yes, collective bargaining tries to maximize the value of a person's time .... capital tries to minimize the value, see diagram.   If the price is too high (relative to your judgement) you can credit the forces of collective bargaining and governmental regulation ... if the price is too low (relative to your judgement) you can credit the forces of capital and the advantages granted to it by government.  That is the dynamic that has been happening in our society.

If we want our time to be actually priceless ... in which direction should we move the balance?
Perhaps consider that it is NOT just a binary balance, but a dynamic equilibrium of many dimensions. I wrote elsewhere:
Yeah! BUT ... you are coming from it is necessary & we have to have it. I am coming from there is a possibility I would like to see,
NOW how can we achieve it? (A principled economic domain independent of politics) To wit:  What are some beginning steps. What principles will lead to such a future?
I have an organ I call my Golden Rule chakra that I use & don't need external laws & regulations . Moving in the right direction is the first step.  More regulations & laws is the wrong step. External coercion is the wrong step. Internal conscience is the right step. Personal responsibility is the right step. Looking to government to solve your problems is the wrong step.  Harmony, resonance & the like is brought about by more & more of the right steps impressing upon the fundamental wave their images until the whole music of the spheres is obtained.

Incidentally i think the Pope chose his term "a truly human purpose" quite carefully.   Other times he might have called that same thing "spirit".  I think he could have even left off the "purpose" part of that, which is kind of presumptive and just gone with "truly human".  In any case in this usage it is opposed to exactly that which it is opposite to ... that is the accumulation of wealth.   In other words, glorifying the accumulation of wealth is not really in the spirit of our humanity.   lol ... well in a way it is so very human ... yet is it what our humanity is ? .... or is it  rather just what our lack of humanity is?

So what is the Pope's "truly human purpose" ?

I have no idea ... however Francis represents that, it didn't get copied to this meme.   for me it is not the most important part of the thought to focus on.  to get the essence of the meme, i suggest just making that part of it up yourself.

Pope Excoriates Global Capitalism in Fiery Speeches...

Basically he is a communist. Way back when Gorbachev was just a wierd birthmark it was predicted that Global Climate Change would be the new communism as the Soviet Union Fell. Population control & running the lives of the people is moving to completion.
