Zen and the Art of playing the Agreement Game

About: zen & the art of the right-wrong game

The agreement game is recognizing something positive about sombody and telling them.

Who says we must play win/loose, when win/win is more fun?

There are more details about this "game"  at the bottom of 1722 which is an alternative to this one.

  1. agreement
  2. item 1772
  3. item 17500

.. & how would you spread the meme for such a game?  The other one is rather automatic like that which spreads memes.

well i am not so very sure that it needs of spreading ... lots of people have been doing this all along ... strange that you have not noticed.   i think it is just as very "automatic" as your favorite thing.  i suppose that it is kind of hard to see that if you just assume that you must play the other game ... because actually you can not play both of them at the very same time
Or maybe not ... maybe one can oscillate back & forth between them

Yes, certainly, i agree.  Yet you cannot do both at the very same time.  I think both positive and negative are necessary to keep the thing going ... so back and forth is going to happen ... yet you cannot do negative while you are doing positive ... and visa versa.  That is almost mathematical and certainly logical.  It might even be an edge to notice.
Totally positive seems to fly in the face of the Tao - is the Tao now invalid?

Right!  Positive and Negative are separated by time (or space, or some other dimension) ... exactly like you said, then need to "oscillate back & forth".

Right!  Positive and Negative are separated by time (or space, or some other dimension) ... exactly like you said, then need to "oscillate back & forth".

It is more like the Tao IS & humans generally add the charge from their own viewpoint or something else in the qualia-pit.

Yes i like that idea ... "humans pick the charge view" ... one stands here or one stands over there ... we can project out thoughts and feelings and choose our actions, we are free ... relative to this or that which do you choose ... the possibilities, like the Tao just IS.

I'm just saying always fixing a particular person (even yourself) as a designated assumed choice is a bad idea .
.. for some value of a designated assumed choice for something .. maybe

let me see if i can explain my term "designated assumed choice".   Say there are judges who choose who wins a contest of skill, for instance how gracefull contestants dance.  But these peculiar judges don't actually judge gace, rather they alway choose based upon the section of the country in which the contestants were born.  So then i would say they would be choosing based upon a "designated assumed choice".   If they were basing their judgement on grace, one would expect the distribution would be equal regardless of section.

The right/wrong game suffers from having a "designated assumed choice" ... er, you are always right and i am always wrong.   That is a bad idea for a way to judge .  It is what is wrong with the right/wrong game.  If that error is hard wired into our beings, then it is a wiring error, and we should evolve something better to replace it.

If there were, wouldn't politics be simple?

... so do you think there is a natural behavior to disagree, but no natural behavior to agree ?

Me, i think not ... both of those behaviors can be learned and unlearned and spring quite naturally from human beings.

So, since we apparently need nothing to "spread" RWG amoungs us, there is no need to have something special to spread agreement.  Though, stopping the promotion of RWG as mandatory might go a long way ... in addition to just doing it and letting  the monkey-see-monkey-do phenomena do its thing.
Lets try it - you become example!
Maybe spread the Golden Rule at the same time!

Mark de LA says
Yeah?  I wouldn't expect judging to occur the way you describe it nor any group of judges to come out exactly the same on any judgment except game shows.  If one is clear on exactly what is being judged - maybe?  Most likely though in art there is a wide variety of artistic variation & artistic appreciation.  Is there any point of view in your statements that supports a natural agreement game which makes it spreads on its own?  Perhaps just agreeing because they are tired of arguing or don't care in the first place, could maybe work.

lets try it

incidentally, i don't think it is a good idea to always assign the same role to the same person.  Me always having to be right and you having to be wrong ... is not the (er) right way to do Tao oscillations.
Nobody suggested that be done.

yet that is what 1722 suggests must always be done.

for questionable values of same role & same person & always and for some conversation? .. too vague for me to pass it out of the qualia pit as some form of the Universe of IS.

well basing a judgement on a "designated assumed choice" (see lengthy explanation above) is a bad idea.  that is all i am saying here.  My feeling is that there is no Zen in that error, just error.  But, hey, your feelings are quite free of mine, so over there quite possibly you name your feeling Zen.

... not me, i don't want no stinking fake agreeing. That would be just a lack of integrity.  My motto is, if you can not find something true in another, then just ignoring their shit is the best you can do.

you, me, its all the same ... we could rewrite the sentence using "one" ... probably then might feel better to you.
sounds (or looks) like the old RWG to me. Got a better example/truth?

... so i guess that you saying, "lets agree because we are tired of arguing" , and then me saying in response, "no i don't want to fake it", feels like RWG to you.

... er, would it have felt better to you had i of just said or implied, "yes, sure, let's just fake it" ?

I still think, differences of view need to be reconciled to get true agreement ... or if that is not possible ... then just ignore the differences in the other ... after all we already have a natural separation of being.  Er, ever wonder why they don't put two one way streets running on the same avenue?
Well there is the tired old meme "We just have to agree to disagree"  that might need resurrecting.  LOL sort of like your Me? I .... thingy (only probably different).

Well, yes it is exactly agreeing to disagree ... far better than continually trying to reconcile left to right when apparently they are quite different from different beings .

I have no idea what you refer to as the, "me? I ..." thingy.
I'll bold it the next time it shows up.
