Not in my network
---> Taking sides !! <---
In which part of the neuronal network of humanity do you partake?
me | not in my network *1 |
joy | fear |
show up | hide |
love | hate |
create | destroy |
flourish | dwindle |
life | death |
synergy | fighing |
build up | tear down |
grow | die |
honesty | dishonesty |
eat | starve |
positive | negative |
synchronicity | dissonance |
attract | repel |
agree | disagree |
understand | misunderstand |
focus | distraction |
*1 I prefer not to do the things in the right hand column ... but that does not imply that i never do them. However if i do these things, then that which i am interacting with IS in my network ... just not in a positive way.

Well each of those aspects of my being, and the beings i connect with, shows up and gets dispersed. Like breathing in and breathing out, it is a part of life ... not just a mental thing, it actually happens.
How is it with you?

I wonder if you have a diaspora for each one of the me column domains.
Probably mentally, eh?

well the way i have been thinking is that thoughts show up ... just like you do (or don't) to a party ... so yes i think that goes along with your anthroposophical view on things. the brain is just an extension of the retina of the eyes (etc) ... that is the place *where* things show up ... like the party room
... but it is not the party.
Incidentally this particular party is not a argument ... that would imply people trying to be right and making others wrong.

Arguing & thinking from analogy & allegory may be fun, however.
I suspect it is ontologically distant from what's so.
The difference, imho, is similar to the difference between thinking that the brain creates thoughts versus the brain is a sense organ for thoughts (more anthroposophical).

Well read this part, at the top:
In other words, consider yourself to be a neuron in the network of humanity. You may actually need to think and even feel that to get the point here. Try it perhaps, even thought you may not believe it. Then consider how you partake (interact) with the neurons to which you connect. I think that in each of the aspects (i enumerated) you could interact with your connected neurons somewhere on the spectrum that i mention.
... no?

Yeah, whatever. I don't get this item at all.

the point is, that if you *do* want to understand this item, then making that assumption is the best path to that comprehension ... whether it is bad is an irrelevant judgement. or course if you *do* want to argue, then take the path that you are taking.

i know you do not think of yourself as a neuron, Mark. But if you want to understand the point here, just like in a mathematical proof where you are given the assumptions to start with, you must presume that you are.
choy 2014-08-25 07:51:48 17664
Nope! I don't think of myself as a neuron in the network of humanity. I am a human being! Hard to grasp, eh?

Assumptions bad - argument OK .... still GIGO.

My question was not where your thought of those values came from ... my question was where do the values themselves come from. Take for example 11: "Synergy, Teamwork and sharing" ... how in hell do you do that by yourself? As far as i can tell the rest of them also require interacting with the world. I guess you did not notice.

Well what is interesting to note is how many or your 14 values spring from your interactions with the world ... and not not exclusively from your own being. Take away the world ... and how many of those could continue to exist, to show up for you? Would they not be just like one hand clapping?

it is not the things that are networks ... it is not things that have these charges.
it is your interactions with your fellow belings that have these charges.
and yes they change all the time ... we breath in and we breath out ... shit is so very dynamic and turbulent .... especially moods and contests. that turbulence is one of the things that i am becoming aware of.
becomming aware of motivation is a big part of this ... thanks for noticing.

You seem to be putting a charge on things +/- .
But things change. What you want one day you may hate the next depending upon timing & circumstances. What part you want of it one day you may hate that part and others the next day. Life seems spungy-mungy as the orangutangs go by.
I sorted my motivation differently as values
not thinking of them as a network.

The core of my motivations is in the values thingy above. Such is how I defined myself after serious contemplation in TR's castle. Funny how it changes little except the older I grow the order shifts a bit more toward security & less towards adventure. They do shift order accordingly as to whether I am satisfying them or still going for them. I don't really need a network to focus my values - I am self-aware.

They sprang from my own contemplation. Others had different sets of values ~ 36 different sets in the castle. I have never been confused about living in the world. Our difference is that at this time in your life one of your top values seems to be "interacting with the world" while mine still remains mental/physical health, love & perhaps the great work which covers all of them.

We live behind 2 different walls. Mine is about what I value. Yours is about what you navigate, maybe?

We live behind 2 different walls. Mine is about what I value. Yours is about what you navigate, maybe?

Well i am having problems understanding a wall as either "about something valued" or "about what is navigated". Those kind of things don't sound like walls to me.
Can you clarify your thought for me?
Can you clarify your thought for me?
Seth says
Well i navigate the experience of my awareness and feelings and deeds within some environment. That environment is partially created by myself and partially created by others. I noticed, a long time ago, that navigating to produce a positive novel effect on that part of my environment that effects others, makes me feel better. So i opt for that attitude rather than seeking to improve my personal health or some career in a spriitual world which others cannot see. Interacting with the world is that direction. This item just lists some of the dimensions of that interaction. When i am doing things on the right side of the spectrum, then i think my life and the life around me is dying ... but when i do the things on the left side of the spectrum, i feel my life and the life around me is flourishing. So my feelings can kind of sense where i am navigating and the feel of the waters.
I don't always swim in beautiful waters ... many times i wallow on the dark side ... but you won't hear me glorifying the mud.

well this seems to be more about Twittersphere Analysis for Memes than this particular item ... probably because both have emerged here together this morning. But of course your right any conception, and model, we have running in our mind, can be like a wall that needs to be trancended.
Incidentally i took what you said about your long chosen values just at face value ... you said it of yourself and i do understand that those are your values. So yes there too i can see that you may look on those chosen values themselves as your personal wall ... that could be trancended just like my network thingey as you call it. fun shit i guess.
Incidentally i agree with your paragraph ...

but anyway YES, my life is my experience of navigating the environment (both inside and outside myself). I value all the things on the left spectrums above when i find them ... and more, for that is a very partial list.
I don't really know if that is any different over there behind both of our walls. If you want to, i suppose you will tell me.

You have a wall that does not let you understand why my values - the ones noted are the ones I used circa 1986 but are mostly valid today - & you network thingies. You seem not to be able to get over the wall of your network thingy.
NO-LABEL is about the VALS survey of Americans that advertisers use to sell to us in adverts. If one is really in touch & knows himself he will know where he can be manipulated from the outside. Politicians know even more these days - the technology has grown with the Internet since 2005 or 1988 when I first learned this stuff. You can be conscious of it or not - your choice; the memes, political adverts & daily campaign speeches affecting you anyway.

I wonder what would happen if we treated the news like the weather. Mostly I look outside & there it is. Yesterday the forecast was for partly cloudy, windy, no precip. I got about 5 minutes of dark clouds and a little rain, visible snow flurries for a second - no big deal (slightly wrong but no big deal!). Maybe all we need is a thermometer shoved up the ass of the news - not a highly accurate one, just enough to figure out whether we need to do something about it.

... and, strangely enough see the potential for truthy to become that very thermomenter shoved up our ass
... er, if you could transcend your governmental fear thingey.

Incidentally, were i to think inside your mind, which i actually believe that i could do by just accepting all of your assumptions and terms as true, then i would be thinking inside a totally hostile environment ... one which was attempting to disrespect and degrade me.
What kind of a masochist would do that?
