What is in your kitchen?

...

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Well my kitchen is governed by the logistics, timing, appetites, and effort/convenience and what's available.

I could give many examples.

For example blackberry bushes are ripening now all over Renton.  Se we went berry picking over the weekend.   Now there is this blackberry crisp sitting in my refrigerator. It's actually quite good, though i think i added too much sugar.

I canned, for the first time Sunday.  So i have 4 jars of Road kill sitting on my counter waiting for trade or placement in the pantry.

I have a stack of produce that i was not capable of completely absorbing from the farm stand. The containers will go back to the healthy horizons farm, probably sometime this week ... and the aging produce will probably mostly go in the compost bin for the worms to work on.   The logistics of the farm stand left overs is something that needs to be worked on in the CoOp.

Just to mention a few things.

...................................

Why?  What's in your kitchen?

It might be interesting to build or get an app for that tracks what you buy & where it goes & ends up. Maybe from receipts & other tangible evidence. Maybe even supplying a farmers market with a  UIC sticker .
I'll get back to you when I clean out the fridge.  Got a lug of peaches the other day for $10 and filled the freezer with the good pieces for smoothies.

i don't know about that.  It seems that the data about things in my kitchen is so very voluminous and volatile as to be daunting to capture ... then too my own mind and hands seem to be quite capable of operating of what needs to be known in that regard.

But what may be needed is better information about people and foods outside of my kitchen ... and where and when the opportunities for forage and trade and purchase exist.  That could be considered what i am workin on in 17533.
I'd love an app for that .

Good find no doubt

Thing is this time of year far more produce comes out of the ground than can be consumed before it rots.  That is an edge that must be dealt with.   That's why God gave us canning

Have you considered canning some of the peaches?

I froze them - a lot easier & quicker & I don't have to heat up the kitchen to do it. I try making my own kombucha, but it also heats up the kitchen & making sure everything is relatively sterile is a pain in the ass.   I have  the equipment, though.

Well a good solution, i am sure ... and one which has been recommended to me many times.  For some, perhaps irrational consideration, my body almost always rejects that ... but that is almost certainly just my peculiar roblem ... i hate do defrost.   Then too my freezer is full up to the brim of stuff from years ago which i should go through and just discard.   But, yes, for some reason i didn't think of that.

There are two things I use the frozen fruit for, first for smoothies & second yet to be tested thoroughly is run it through my juicer (Omega 8005) - makes pasta too)) still frozen & make ice cream like stuff. I do that with frozen bananas & strawberries. It takes little effort, no defrosting & I get a frozen desert without all the chemicals in ice cream.

... .   let me know how the juicer works for you.

I stopped using it when I got the VitaMix for smoothies - I get the whole plant with the VitaMix.  I have tried & been successful making peanut butter from peanuts (a bit dry needs oil when finished), almond butter from almonds - ditto on the oil; made banana & strawberry frozen desert & pasta a couple of times from just semolina & egg & water. T liked the pasta. When I want some peach ice cream I may mix the peaches with almond milk & honey & re-freez & try again.
I have had it for a few years.

Actually they demo the VitaMix at costco as making frozen desert . Just buzz it less & have enough ice in it. Throuble is it is hard to get out.  With the Omega it comes out like a turd, easier to wipe.

That's why I am still thinking of a neural network to capture it all yours & a representative sample all around.  The neural network can predict the rest & adjust & learn what changes & how it does.

what i am saying is that we already have a neural network for that.  and a quite adequate one i must observe.  withing my kitchen i do not need that app.  why job out to a computer what i do so very beautifully myself?
OK have fun.  It is for predicting that info which you do not have like those you don't have in your network. Need to get more info or whatever. My wallaby, maybe not urz.

If you have one of the old Champion juicers you can just about do the same as the Omega.
