Munging

About: urban dictionary: munging

Munging is the art of SPIN which takes ordinary words like hope & change & blends them together such that the whole thing has an alternative meaning from the original. It is sometimes used to grab the coin on a particular meme & then dictate what it means from thence forward with oneself as the expert.  It is far from communicative as the concepts grow more abstract with time & just about anything fits within the munge. One might call it #ThePeoplesEtymology or #EtymologyOfThePeople but that might be grabbing a munge.  Such could rival ethnic dialects like ebonics or rhyming slang & perhaps ming depending upon the clarity of it's use.
What is fun, if one owns the coin is to keep shifting the meaning around over time so that there is always a question of usage & therefore it is unaccountable.
The urban dictionary has a congruent meaning too! (*)

Perhaps a more socially acceptable metaphor would be that of a chimera - inspired by Brecks recent engraving-like pictures.

yep language allows us to make signs even of the relationships of different things ...

it is what we do ...

and is great ... your attempts to judge the practice through shit colored eyes notwithstanding.
Yep co-opting the word signs is yet SOS.

the network or fabric composed  by the interaction of individuals (nodes) is exactly what i am talking about.  if you can think of a better word for that and only that, well then use it.  the word "humanity" is close, but there are all kinds of aspects of that thingey, i am talking just about the interaction itself part ... which does compose a fabric which can alternatively be called a "network".
meta-abstractions & anthropomorphism - nothing new.

Munging changes or destroys context. Not acceptable in my world.

yes, destroying context is bad.  recognizing how distinct things are related within their context is very useful.  you are calling that "munging", to destroy the context in which i am talking.
Your context if fine or whatever you want to invent is fine. The challenge is your wordz. Why change words that I use normally & mean something else with them.  Why reword what I have written with your wordz game.

just because the things i am expressing cannot be said with the words you habitually use to yourself.  they may well be new conceptions to you ... at least maybe open yourself up to that possibility.
Nope! So far nothing new - mostly obscurantism of previously obvious notions.

... & now munging contexts : [munging: item 17817] & 17865
Context & distinction is what makes something a something. Classification may help one navigate up or down a classification tree to abbreviate the search or specification of something, but that is for the convience of the person doing it & doesn't change what something is.

well, you may not have noticed, but 17817 starts off dealing with what you refer to as "what somethig is" because it asks "What consequences can actually be moved (copied) from one event to another event?"  ... "consequences" here standing for "what actual is".  In that case we are not talking about metaworld mental representations at all, but rather what is so even independant of mental observation.  An example is in order ... how about a recipe.  I learn to make gumbo through a process of events ... then i copy those consequences into another making of a gumbo ... therefore i copied consequences from one event to another.

Whereas 17865 is about how McCarthy is trying to copy context from one logical representation to another and preserve the same truth it had in the original context into the destination context.  It is exclusively mental ... of mind and representation.   It worked out, if you follow that whole AI development that it was quite difficult to do indeed.  They tried it with CyC ... i don't see as being a very successful project, do you?  But incidentally they used pure logic.

wtf?
