I am a Skeptic of both Science & Religion & Skepticism

About: skepticism - wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beware of those who put words into the mouths of Popes wherefor in early days Popes put words in the mouths of the people & kings.   Beware of those who put words in the mouth of God or speak for God as if they heard God or knew his thoughts - if there be thoughts.
Beware of those who speak for all humanity as if they had spoken to all humans & know all their minds.
Beware of scientists who generalize meaning from experimental evidence of things they have never seen personally nor have the instruments to sense & write-off the souls of men as mere electro-chemical storms within their skulls.

source ... Mersenne’s earliest publications, such as Quaestiones celeberrime in Genesim (1623; “Frequent Questions Concerning Genesis”) and La vérité des sciences (1625; “The Truth of Science”), defended orthodox theology by distinguishing between the ultimate nature, or essence, of things (knowable only by God) and the contingent facts observable by man. He disagreed, however, with the views of skepticism that the world is completely unknowable. He asserted that knowledge should freely advance through experiment and observation"frequently chiding scholars for not including accurate experimental data in their papers"while insisting that hypotheses are, at best, probable explanations. He also distinguished between a rational, indeed mechanistic, natural world populated by living automatons and a sentient humanity. From 1626 Mersenne’s publications concentrated on applied mathematical sciences, such as astronomy and optics.

... i.e science is the practical midpoint between the extremes of religion & materialism searching for explanations & meanings for that which IS!

There are states of consciousness which reveal that which IS for which words may never be invented & yet they are part of the grand IS. Neither scientists nor theologians nor philosophers & logicians nor kings are likely to hold such consciousness  for but an infinitesimal wisp of NOW.

Then there are the Ambrose Bierce Fantastic Fables:

The Ashes of Madame Blavatsky

The two brightest lights of Theosophy being in the same place at once in company with the Ashes of Madame Blavatsky, an Inquiring Soul thought the time propitious to learn something worth while. So he sat at the feet of one awhile, and then he sat awhile at the feet of the other, and at last he applied his ear to the keyhole of the casket containing the Ashes of Madame Blavatsky. When the Inquiring Soul had completed his course of instruction he declared himself the Ahkoond of Swat, fell into the baleful habit of standing on his head, and swore that the mother who bore him was a pragmatic paralogism. Wherefore he was held in high reverence, and when the two other gentlemen were hanged for lying the Theosophists elected him to the leadership of their Disastral Body, and after a quiet life and an honourable death by the kick of a jackass he was reincarnated as a Yellow Dog. As such he ate the Ashes of Madame Blavatsky, and Theosophy was no more.

thing is, when some truth can actually be, were only that i make it so, well then that is not the time for me to be skeptical.  the strange thing about life is that so very much of it is of that nature.  i suspect that is PR's way too, but i am sure he would say it differently.
Don't know what you are saying here - really haven't a clue.

i'm just saying there are times to be skeptical, and times not to be skeptical.  the rational approach proffers theories and doesn't commit to them, but rather is skeptical to the extent they remain untested.  Yet that method does not always work in all aspects of human life, for there are things that we make so by dint of our deeds.

It's the old Will To Believe that i flash here whenever i feel it applies ... hmmm ill check the context will to believe.  It is kind of is the flip side of skepticism.
That's maybe why I put it in the Title - I'm also a skeptic of skepticism!
