in the groups owned by mark

it seems to me that mark acts as if the only value accrued in a dialogue belongs to himself.

... oh well

after experiencing this train, it occurred to me that men were given egos as a poison pill to destroy humanity ... or perhaps a thing to overcome.

Anyway it sounds like my experiences are not to be valued in mark's groups, certainly not for myself  ... in other words they are just for him and him alone .... they being a monument for his ego alone .... oh well, i'll stay out of them.

well perhaps my experiment,  of a blending (a meeting) of separate minds here at fastblogit has ended.  So now groups will function completely separately, no agreements needed, no blending, no building on each others thoughts encouraged.  The groups will still be able to refer to each other from their respective walled gardens.   No big change really, just references will be a bit more tedious, and for me there will be less anticipation of synergy ... but then that never emerged anyway.

My own blog will remain an open mind, a place to think, and to create, and to listen.   But as usual anybody who offends me personally or disrespects my train of thought,  will surely get their smudges deleted.   I may start not allowing my own ego to be even pointed to,  and certainly not mocked or twisted into somebody else's image of me.  I actually have enough self awareness and don't need others telling me what i am, ...  but even that will depend on context and what i can make of any references that might emerge.

Remove the red-herring innuendo from your post & you might be more believable, or NOT

What red herring?

Note that ...
it seems to me that mark acts as if the only value accrued in a dialogue belongs to himself
... is a true sentence to me.  That is how events appear over here.

Note further that assertion of my perception says absolutely nothing about mark's actual intention to accrue only value in his groups to himself,  as that is not something of which i have a way of perceiving.  I assert here only the effect of mark's actual deeds on me.  Mark could care a great deal about the value i get from his dialogue in his groups,  but his actual actions give me no evidence of such a consciousness.  It is as if he is oblivious to what i get out of his dialogue.  Many examples could be given.

now here is something that i think is interesting to note in this context here.  me thinks a cultured respect for otherness ... a respect for that which is not me ... of which i have no real experience ... is, imho, the very best attitude to learn from it.   aka perhaps, "non-hostile-curiosity".  Does not otherness have its own authority?

point I attached yesterday.  the dilemma still remains & is discussed in P.2474 of the Tai Shu Commentaries - placed here as an antidote, [].

well strangely enough i actually meditated on this this morning, provoked  by your post.  What was interesting to me about the meditation is that i could do with GW's writings just the same kind of thing that i do with my own ... in that the more i reread and listen to the passage, the truer it starts to ring.  Of course with GW's i can not change the scripture, and can only accept or reject its implied presumptions or translate them into my own.

when i'm not so busy with shipping christmas chotskies, i'll probably combine the two passages and mediate on them in the light of your introduction [less of course the irrelevant parts that seem just associated with the context of your peculiar ego].  even though you and i and gw are talking about ego here, i still don't think it wise to take it personally in the sense of wallowing in our own ego pits and shitting in the other guys.

Well yes the antidote to killing each other, which does seems to be our nature, is to go beyond our own ego and, as GW puts it, "expand out interests to include those of the world" ... me, i hasten to add each other.   Alternatively i suppose we could isolate ourselves and become oblivious to the concerns of an other.  Is that the "dilemma" that you say still remains?

In that context it's interesting that GW says, "the universe is willing to pay any price for the single service of a sound soul !".  Perhaps this peculair universe doen't want these sound souls to be killing each other, no?  ... otherwise it won't get its money's worth
Yerp ... keep asking.  You left out the MOONG item of GW P.1552 about learning

Well i don't know how you have that connected in this context.

P.1552 is dealing with a teacher/pupil relationship where the the teacher is accepted as an authority and the pupil desires to learn from him.   The other passages are dealing, as far as i can tell, with just person to person relationships, and with person to universe relationships in the context in which you introduced them.  Why should i consider p.1552 in this context?

Or in other words, why don't you just tell me how you think authority and teacher/pupil is connected with ego to ego and ego to universe?  Why play this guessing game?

I bolded it & teased it out for you
Why bother to ask a question if you don't want to learn something?
~

Is that a trick question ... or what ?   I mean one obviously asks questions to learn.    So how is that undisputed fact connected to one ego's interaction with another ego?
