About: How Far Can the P2P Revolution Go?

Some ideas need to be chased beyond the enthusiasm of the writer. Is this P2P mean peer to peer as in the network or People to People.  Doesn't make a difference does it?  How independent can they be from server farms?

Well i think p2p networks have a long way to go and their impact on our culture will be quite impressive in the coming decades.  They are more resilient than beuricratic central controls and less prone to corruption.  Of course person to person transactions have always been the main stay of commerce and communication, but now with the advances in electronic hardware the possibilities of rarer and rarer transaction possibilities have increased by a phenomenal amount.  I look forward to the unique specifics in the long tail starting to become more important in the mosaic of humanity .

in working with the Google "new sales team" i get the distinct impression that the computer is controlling the business, not the people .... a strange feeling indeed ... but that is probably just my subjective reaction.

this article may shed some light on what may be happening ...

THEN TOO one could just be conscious of what is happening when it is happening & be present with yourself instead of the cell phone .... & maybe just lie to yourself while things are going on ......

well i tend to agree ... this app is a bridge too far ... certainly for me.  but i can conceive of a life where it might be helpful ... there may people deep in this technological society who might just appreciate it ... i don't know.

anyway there are apps which have become almost indispensable for my particular life style ... one of them is Google Maps (examples could be provided).  I suppose if i were a bit more taken up in a large swirly of a social life, i might look for an app that provided topical awareness regarding my acquaintances.

Ira Glass on NPR interviewed someone who made an app which externalized anxiety... also for me a bridge too far ... but interesting nonetheless ...

So the way it works, if we look at the website, you go to the website and you put in your name and your email, and then you put in what your anxiety is. So it's like, I'm really anxious about finishing my book. I'm really anxious about losing weight. And you can keep adding anxieties. And it saves all of that to a database. And then like 12 times a day, but kind of random, it just sends you these emails from your anxiety.

... check it out.    I was interested in the aspect of this where something internal becomes externalized and then supposedly more manageable.   What other kinds of things work that way?

Anyway its interesting to keep watching the effect of Google controlling their business cybernetically ... or are they?
