ok ... it is easier to see it when we talk about human people, rather than geographic impersonal processes or manifestations. but me thinks it applies to both. just that humans are closer to humans.
ok ... so i get that you do not believe that things remote from you affect you, therefore they are not in your network, nor can they be "doing you" (or you doing them) in your here and now. did i say that right?
the thing is, consider the things that are around you with which you are interacting. can you believe those direct connected cause and effect networks do shit? and that your node in those networks is what that network in doing in your here and now?
then when you believe in those directly connected interactions with your immediate peers ... consider their peers ... and then the peers of those peers ... and can you know that does spread out into all of humanity.
me thinks the same goes for the universe at large. you may not think you are affected by what happens in a remote place like Betelgeuse but you are affected by our Earth which is affected by the Sun ... which affects and is affected by the milky way galaxy ... which is affected by and affects Betelgeuse. So no remote action necessary to explain it ... just direct connections spreading out in waves.

Any collection of independent entities that interact via cause and effect is a network ... and the behavior of that network can be Gestalted.
