This is a test.  I had to reboot my machine to get this to work.

OK I altered the mingdict url to http://icybermind.net/mingdict1.php?mingIn=ming&submit=TRANSLATE
& edited recursion & it seems to work.  Now I have to deal with all the links to the old one in the CFR books & in icyberspace.net
Can you fix fastblogit.  Try the one above just for another opinion.

What is up with PHP? &/or the ming translator?

i think the hack below, put at the top of the PHP code, might fix the ming translator and other ills as well ...

source: nathan's hack

foreach (array('_GET', '_POST', '_COOKIE', '_SERVER') as $_SG) {
    foreach ($$_SG as $_SGK => $_SGV) {
        $$_SGK = $_SGV;
    }
}
...

Why did it change - who changed it? Was a new release of PHP installed somewhere?

image upload works ... i just applied the patch in 18150

maybe now you can fix your ming translator

Eiamyme says
thanks
I would appreciate it if you could fix the ming translator because I am not a php user, have never written a php program & you wrote it.

well it might be a while for me to get to it because i have sever deadline and lots of work to go for the join form at the coop.

you might try yourself, it really is just a copy from the patch on 18150 and paste into the top of the file after the <?php  which enters into php and exits HTML area.
WELL - I tried it & it didn't work.  I changed it back.  I put the code back the way it was because it seemed to expose the pwd.

well i fixed it in a new file called "mingdict1.php" ... see this translation.

apparently the old .html file won't run php until i can get somebody to dink with the settings in your domain.

Yep, still can't figure out how to run it by itself independent of fbi.

should work just fine, just got to code the input according the URL encoding.

You could easily put a front end on it by checking if the input parameter is present, and if it is not, show a blank form.  The submit would loop back around.

Seth says
there appears to be a quick and dirty fix ... not sure how dirty ... may even be an improvement.  and that is to change fastblogit here to go to //icybermind.net/mingdict1.php instead of the .html version of that same file ...
this would happen by just changing .html to .php in the following code withing fbi

        case "ming":
            $ming=urlencode($object);
            $link=sprintf('<a href="http://icybermind.net/mingdict1.html?mingIn=%s&submit=TRANSLATE">',$ming);
            $o=sprintf('[%s<span class="reference">%s</span></a>]',$link,$x);
            break;
        case "mingchar":
            $ming=urlencode($object);
            $link=sprintf('<a href="http://icybermind.net/mingdict1.html?mingIn=%s&submit=TRANSLATE" title="%s" >',$ming,$x);

            $mings=explode(' ',$object);
            $s='';
            foreach ($mings as $chr) {
                $i= $chr . '.gif';
                $s=$s . sprintf('<img src="https://icybermind.net/media/ming/%s" alt="%s"  border="0" />',$i,$chr,$char);
            }
            $o=sprintf('[%s<span class="reference" style="background-color: white;">%s</span></a>]',$link,$s);

            break;

... that way you would not need to dink with your server settings in your domain.  Just remember that you cannot use php in a html file.

of course all recursive references within mingdict1.html would need to be changed to mingdict1.php as well.

done.   but i had to put the new .htaccess in the public_html dir for all of the domains that exist in the account so apply named.

please test it out in all of your domains and let me know if it works.

Wanted someone else to try the link other than me & on their own machine.  I noticed that my old links still in some cases like bookmarks in my browsers are still pointed to the old html. The hardest to get to work was the icybermind.net one.
Thanks for the fix. Some in my Webbrain are still pointed to the old one.

oh, ok, i just didnt want to have missed anything important.  I think i can easily change your setting now to allow both php and html ... as i discovered the fix for that yesterday inadvertanly.  i can apply that fix in your domain and then you could have both versions of the program going and maybe you would not need to do extensive edits in your Webbrain.
OK - hopefully it doesn't re-break anything. I still have a few links in fastblogit which are attached to the html version.
