About: How Your Thoughts Become Your Destiny

I Don't like the ontology of neurons firing in the head making thoughts, but article is still interesting.
Thoughts are like friends in a transparent world who leave their traces like cosmic rays in a cloud chamber of my mind or brain. They seem to come & play as often as I play back & react in different ways if I don't. I may or not be able to call them to play nor can anyone else explain why one particular one shows up as it does at any one particular moment.
Language & speech are wonderful senses to capture some pieces of the moment of play;  argument being more like combat on the playground.

well you have an interesting relationship to your thoughts ... not sure i have the same one.  i wouldn't say that my thoughts leave a track in my mind like a cosmic particle streaking through ... most of mine i have thought before in similar situations and think them again out of my habit.  So for me habit is first and thoughs follow from them not the other way around as in the article.  i have to force myself to seek out the edges of situations to get new thoughts.  that takes a measure of energy which comes from my being or my character ... again kind of opposite direction from the article.  of course things vary all the time ... especially in this mind.  so sure, somtimes i find myself wondering, "now where the hell did that thought (or image) come from", but that is unusual ... usually i know.

anyway i'm betting that everyone is like totally different and even variable from time to time how this kind of relationship happens ... even healthy and unhealthy.  yet i expect that some others are quite constant.

sorry stream of consciousness here ... do with it whatever or not ... i'm not even going to edit it post writing.
Not much qualia in the above about thoughts.  My cloud chamber & friendliness with my thoughts has worked out for me for many years - of course it is an analogy & methaphor.  So is the analogy of electricro-chemical wiring in the low priced meat computer.  We may be all different, but then if that is so in this domain any further jousting over the #bamWEpoolMind of humanity is senworthless.

well sure, every thought feels like something as it happens.  if that is what your cloud chamber metaphor is saying, then it works for me too.  i'm just not at peace with them coming from outside like a cosmic particles.  for me they mostly result from what is happening in my life or what i am trying to create or avoid.  the electrico-chemical wiring is not something that i am aware of, so that does not form my actual relationship to my thoughts ... at best they supervene on that (exist in a separate space from that) ... but i know that only by reading about neuroscience and phsychology ... not by personal experience.
I am just carrying on the GW idea that the brain is a sense organ for thought. I have been using  that wallaby for decades.

P.S. I have a mind that can come up with seemingly random thoughts as well.

... are they truly random ... or are they just potentially newly connected to where you mind is at, in the now?

When i get a seemingly random thought or image go by, i usually go "wtf ... where did that come from?".   It doesn't happen to me very frequently ... but it usually has a good qualia attached.  Of course i don't count the times i put my mind in random search mode ... or allow myself to get distracted ... which is all to frequently, or so i tell myself.
Can't prove one way or the other.

well yes of course ... the science of psychology tells us not to trust what we affirm about ourselves ... there is a long history of that view, sorry just to wave at it, maybe found somewhere off of this context ... if you care i will point more precisely.

my first reaction is why such a thing would want to be proven.  that simply is the way it seems over here.  how is it different by you?
Again more assertions which prove nothing & are unclear as to what you are saying.

i like to experience myself doing stuff ... i think ... i feel ... i act ....  i don't just passively sense it go by.

i sense things comming to me from outside of myself ... i see the mountain ... i hear you singing.   but it might be a distinction without a real difference, just a different way of talking.  i can suppose were the ego box to disappear, there would be no way to tell the one from the other.

Yep you are off somewhere else again ....

well yes of course ... and is that not always the case ?... you and me being individuals ... separated from each other by our different histories and assumptions.  the fun being just how very much we can see it together ... can sense it together ... can do it together ... for that will better survive between our minds ....  and into the mind  of our culture at large.
LOA has a centering self meme which I could summarize thus: (found pic on G+)

what about what i am saying is unclear to you?
The above tastes like word salad & it is not clear enough to ask a useful question. If all thoughts were random then interaction between people would lose purpose & utility except perhaps fortuitous hedonism. I am adrift near #boredWontArgueItFurther so long for now - will ketchup later.

who said all thoughts are random?  Certainly not me ... certainly not in anything i said above.  All i said, just like you implied as well, was that some of my thoughts appear to be random ... or more precisely perhaps some of them i am not aware of from which they sprang.
