zoom to Google Maps

Any help you're offering, I'll accept! The address is 641 Lucas Creek Rd Chehalis, WA 98532. The property is on the north side of the road, up an inclined driveway. The couple I mentioned are Carl and Lorna Smith, and it's Lorna's family property. Their farm across the street is Twin Brooks. SUPER nice folks!

It's a very pretty drive; about 20 min east off I-5 through beautiful farm country. Perhaps 45 min from Oly total. Let me know if you go!

...

I already let Lorna know that you might be stopping by. I don't know if they'll be around to show it, but I suggest you give her a call at 360-262-3169 and see if you all can dovetail a visit. I'll be excited to hear your impressions.

The Google zoom map actually shows the creeks and Lucas Creek Road  and the two farm parcels on both sides of the road ...

and another view of the area from Google Earth.

Note that this farm is in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range.

Google earth places the marker for the house in the wrong place.  The actual house, photographed below, is to the left of the "drive way".

and another view of the property ...

pictured below is a view of the "orchard" where there are apples, plum, and nut trees.  the orchard is in the lower right of the Google's satellite view.

i am toying around with how to share this ... not only the technology but also the scope and how to represent my impressions.

Can you see the pictures in my OS X album on Facebook here?
yes & are those pictures of the farm area?

Yes.

Carl and Lorna Smith apparently own the property now.  Their farm stretches for about 100 archers on one side of the highway.  The parcel for sale is on the other side of the highway and encompass  about 11 archers including a steep hill covered ash trees and other harvest-able timber.  The other side of that hill is owned by Weyerhaeuser.  Some of my pictures show views of both sides of the highway.

What's your interest in this one? Moving, investing or building your food coop or something else?

just want to see the farm ... is a nice drive and i want to go to Olympia anyway for their farmers market .... best in the area  ... and i may help with the croud funding.

But reading Laura Sweeney's post here and the subsequent dialogue should provide you the background you would need to grock my interest is in these farm(s).   You should be able to access that dialogue because she set her post to public.  I will probably record my impressions there shortly.

If I were investing, I would invest in my own farm.  It is nice to see how one works if the people are into sustainability.  It looks nice & green up there. More so than "Brown" California.

... quite understandable.

But farming is a lot of work ... and organic farming needs of much practical knowledge  ... what value the sovereignty gained by imagining one can supply all of those resources themselves?  I am investing in Russell Farm, but i would trade my selfie sovereignty for those resources in the flash of an eye.

... It looks nice & green up there. More so than "Brown" California.
... we have plenty of water up here ... but most of California is a desert ... weird how many people flock there ... i think some day consequences will have their way with those dreams that started long long ago.

I shared the pictures with Bill Coady (Tina's bro) who at times expressed interest in farming. He was up in Idaho over the holiday & drove from Paradise to get there. He has a degree in Animal Husbandry.

hopefully you also shared Laura Sweeany's intention.  Note it would be a great oppurtunity for Bill to share a farm for relatively small investment

Permaculture and Intentional Community friends on FB: Joe and I have uncovered an amazing country living situation. 11 acres 10 miles off I-5 just south of Chehalis with a very big, clean & well-maintained mobile with soaring ceilings. Vintage orchard, smokehouse, goat pens, woodland, well, outbuildings - right across the street from a permaculture couple who have been on their 100+ acres for 60+ years. They have infrastructure & tools to share, greenhouse, gardens, etc. Total cost: $120K. We have $70K to spend. Wanna go in on a small community or country retreat opportunity? PM for more info.
... and not to see it as part of the larger twin brooks farms would be to be oblivious to what could happen.

I shared their website only they had already left here. I suspect they didn't visit.  My question about the place is how susceptible is the area to flooding? Such is a pertinent question for investors to ask.
... a part of the twin brook farms on the other side of the road floods out in the winter ... but not on the part that is for sale, that is up hill from the flooding.

this morning i shared the whole thing, so everybody knows.

Yeah, maybe enough people along the coast might make it break off & I could have beach-front property!
