Some Move Onward - Others Are Stuck in the Past

About: white vs black manifesto by dylann roof about: the text on his website

Even the M$M has more interesting stories.  Living in the past of civil war racism seems a bit senile. The Left & the PC crowd will, however milk it for all it is worth - which is NOTHING.

well this is not about "destroying" the past, this is about lessening the past's hold on the present.  it is learning to "let it go" and move on to what is happening in the NOW.  that is against shit like this.  ISIS is doing the same thing, but they have selected the parts of the past which we still need.  Being smart is the art of being selective ... a gross generalization saying "never let old symbols go" is stupid ... don't forget them ... put them in a museum ... but don't continue to allow them to assert their control of current behavior.

I do not know what you are proposing here that goes beyond that.  Can you be more specific?
Read what I wrote & not what is in your egoo.

Seems to me that what you bolded was exactly that which i talked about.  Old associations in the past are not the present .... hence let them go if they are no longer working.  So as far as i can tell we are in agreement.   What did pointing at goo add?
Basically you asked a question that had already been answered if you read what I wrote. I grant that you already know how to read.  You may speed-read past what I write & listen to your own internal dialogue or something else. Who knows.. ? This item counters the one-sided rubbing of your sores .  MLK gets ignored - maybe he is passe by your current standards & that of Potus. See also 18481

sorry all i could hear in your items, beyond what i highlighted, i recognized as just tu quoque ... hence my questions ... what is here that is beyond that?  ... or what are you saying about the evils of things that black people are doing that is more than just saying, "look what they are doing, it is just as bad as the KKK" ?   Seriously, what is beyond that?
None of that was in my mind - just yours. Rub your sore & see if you get that good feeling of something itching getting scratched. MLK is passe? You like that? I don't think he agrees with today's black leaders.

Bozo: ...
Well i think MLK would certainly hail the black community's reaction to Roof ... finally voiced by governor  Haley ... and Obama.  Forgiveness rather than rioting is what carried the day and caused the positive change.  You have cherry picked that which was unimportant, not the mainstream of what the leaders went with this event.  Strange that you didn't actually notice.
...
Maybe listen to MLK's famous speech again: 18500 .  Then disavow people like Farrakhan, & the various attorneys general & the pc crowd.

Did black community leaders voice a Christian forgiveness of Roof and in doing so heal some of the racial woes of South Carolina?   Why was there no significant violent reaction to the massacre?  I wonder why you persist in not noticing that.

Yep & then instead of rioting they apparently are purging the South of the stars & bars & the history of the confederacy - pretty much my thesis here & in the comments.

well yes because that symbol encourages people to react in a racist manner.   putting this symbol in a historical museum is a step in the right direction.
NOPE!
no symbol causes - people cause!

What about Huxley's words?

source: Huxley

Since human beings respond to symbols as promptly and unequivocally as they respond to the stimuli of unmediated experience, and since most of them naively believe that culture-hallowed words about things are as real as, or even realer than their perceptions of the things themselves, these outdated or intrinsically nonsensical notions do enormous harm.
... for some strange reason you keep ignoring (or at least not acknowledging) the actual demonstrable power of symbols.  Can you tell me how you reconcile that in your mind?

Incidentally all of CFR's ceremonial magic relies on this same power of symbols that Huxley (and many others) have talked about.

I have enough schooling in ontology (zen) to know who actually pulls a trigger.  I also know that people make up their own emotions & they don't get their actions from outside otherwise nobody has any freedom at all & we are all just machines of the environment; of our encounters in the world.  They may try real hard to blame others & other things though.

Ceremonial magick is specifically designed to provide the juice for the magician to expect his magic to work or provide the emotions he wants to enable his doing so. Similarly, LOA provides similar stuff.

yep, exactly, it can provide the "juice" ... well said.

What juice does the confederate flag provide?
The word "juice" is a metaphor ... emotion is the thingy.  The confederate flag does nothing for me.  You will have to ask someone who gives a shit about it.  I just don't like PC horseshit & the liberals who supported the confederate flag in the beginning now opposing it.

Well nobody is ignoring the zen of the action of the deed.  Certainly not me ... see action.  All i am saying is that in our culture and society as well as within our selves symbols and symbolizing in language and story has a great effect on emotion and deed.  That effect is not a mere triviality to be swept under the table for the sake of taking a stance.  Taking down the confederate flag was a step away from racism in the South.  I hail it, and so would MLK.

You say what you want, i think i have made my point, whether you ack it or not.
Yep ... the same irrationality wants to ban guns because guns kill people all by themselves & not the person pulling the trigger.
Good luck with that idea.
