Tu quoque

shuffling symbols with a "so's your mother" interaction is not interacting with integrity.  in fact, that is why we call doing that a fallacy.  it even has a name, "Tu quoque".

We can distinguish between "mirroring" where someone sees their own faults (or strengths) in someone else .... and "Tu Quoque" where one makes an irrelevant comparison implying an equivalence.

Example of mirroring: I say you are ugly, you say I am ugly.

Example of Tu Quoque:  I say Trump is an egotist, you say Obama is a egotist.

Then too sometimes it IS your mother! (;-0)

yep, for some value of "it" that is always the case.  i hate such ambiguous over generalized assertions .  they are just a way to fight.

so we cannot agree to share a reality ... but we can go over here and fight about something irrelevant to it ... and get a rush out of the butt end of this polarity

... yep.

Mirroring and Tu Quoque are talking about two particular fallacies of interacting that have been identified as such within our culture.

I am sure there are many other fallacies that can be indetified and represented here at fastblogit as well.

The point of identifying and representing them here is to be aware of what they are, so that perhaps they can be avoided.
Maybe fallacies versus truisms would be a good start!

sorry i do not get the connection.  What is the connection between truisms and mirroring and Tu Quoque?

or maybe what you are saying is that it is a truism that these are fallacies.  Well, yeah .

The question then becomes, why are they not being avoided?

Nice clarification & resurrection of more argumentation.  Sorry, I think you failed to grok my original comment. (which was given in the humorous sense of "just becasue you are paranoid doesn't mean people are not out to get you) .
There exists other additional internal selfie urges variously called tit-for-tat & of course the RWG & many other polar relationship phenomena.

Yep, i do not get the point of raising the fact that "just becasue you are paranoid doesn't mean people are not out to get you" in this context.

(1) the fallacies exist and should be avoided.  Hopefully you accept that premise.

We can identify the fallacies directly in the language ... this is a case where, for the most part, even a computer could detect them.   In other words, I call you an asshole, you immediately call me an asshole, ... it doesn't take a genius to detect that we are both being juvenile ... nore if detected is it necessarily imagined by self.

So what has paranoia have to do with it?

It sounds to me that you are doing one of these blamine the victim thingies ... or not ... i really don't know ... what you are saying does't make any sense.   Maybe just say it direct, and not about me, .... if you have a problem with identifying these fallacies, what is it?
In addition to 18678 which is spot on & comes from the viewpoint of humor (in your case lost) - I have identified something frequently demonstrated by you which is willful ignorance or most often simply represented simply as Huh?
Get well soon!

Well fine,  perhaps 18678 represents the infinite regress of a brain thinking it is right because it thinks it is right ... or in other words the RWG.  Not quite sure why it is so funny to you to represent it all about me, but i can respect that as being just your private humor.   But what has that to do with this item, with Tu quoque?  ... nothing that i can ascertain.

And then perhaps we could discuss what you call willful ignorance in some other more isolated place .... you are apparently not accepting that when i say "huh?" i honestly can not understand what you are saying.  Surely we can talk about that.
