for every polarity a balance can be found. noticing which distinctions are actually polarities helps. recently i convinced myself that self/other is actually a polarity and that i have been trying to balance myself against the world for a long time now. when i was younger i think i was quite confused about it. and the old man's philosophy and restrictions visa via the world did not help me find my particular sweet spot. oh well i have a life time to learn.

I think the polarity you actually found was between you & the "old man".

for you. Most of what you say to me implies that you are so very deep inside that you dont even see the other end of the stick at all. Bear in mind, that to me this is not a right/wrong thing ... i am not right here ... nor are you ... nor a wrong thing ... i am not wrong here ... nor are you ... no judgement, please.

You surely do bring up quite a thing to contemplate ... is this polarity just a thingey that is fused in my particular brain? Let me think about that one ... i think i can find it in the world. Not so sure i can show it to you so you will see it ... so that is what i need to think about.

Well yes, ego or brain ... all the same ... just different angels or aspects from which to contemplate it.

And, yes, i credit thrusts in our culture .... nothing either wrong or right, no judgement usefull or necessary. I see it now as a grand human experiment, a grand pendulum swing. It's hard maybe to even see the swing back from its extreme since our particular lives were so deep withing the inside pole.

I remember the first time this other direction entered my mind. It was a passage in one of Henry Miller's books ... something about the spirit always being there down the ages buggering the world ... god i wish i could find that passage ... i've looked for it numerous times.

More like he was there in my early life forcing me more inside and away from interacting with others. It is even a common parental tendency to protect family and young - not so very peculiar to GW. Thing is the inside world exists quite apart from his efforts ... there being lots of cultural memes pointing that same way. The inside world, to which GW was the warden, came not from him but through him. So Genesthai was not the pole, but merely a force in a process sinking inside. As far as i can tell, you are still going that way. You will deride my direction as materialism and anti-sprit, a rejection of an ultimate value in a splendid world whose portal is found inside.

It's strange i meet people out here who are already so well adapted that, were i emulate them, my inner struggles would disappear. And they are good people, helpful, not shallow - consumer obsessed. I am in awed of how they lovingly interact in the world ... nare a selfie obsession to be seen.
