Beasley the Coon Man

The story of Glemie Dean Beasley plays like a country song. The son of a sharecropper, Beasley left school at 13 to pick cotton. He came to Detroit in 1958.

As I recall it smelled like kidneys which has a strong smell of urine & tastes like liver.

i heard that coon meat is greasy ... but i never had it .... have you?
When I went to Carruthersville to visit Larry's family he bought an already skinned coon from a friend who apparently had trapped it.  His mother prepared it like a fried stew.  I could neither stand the smell nor the taste & didn't eat any more.
