Former Marine GOES OFF On Black Lives Matter

Well "you don't kill me willy-nilly, and i won't kill you willy-nilly, and we will be civilized" ... the "hyper-reaction" is almost predictable. Hopefully the trama will make us aware of what we were oblivious. The body should heal to a better balance.

... This is another expression of The Law of Attraction, LOA.

And, yes, i do question when and where it should be applied.

One place i know it should not be applied is where someone harms somebody and then blames them for attracting the harm.  In that case LOA is being used as an excuse to divert attention from the perpetrator to the victim.

A broader discussion of when and where we should apply LOA would be interesting.  However i think it should be started in its own items.

Focus on difference & you get difference.  Focus on race you get racism. Focus on slavery you get slavery
Focus on Being Human - & maybe get out of the loops.

... .  Is that always the case?  If so then there is no such thing as an objective reality outside of your private associations.  That does not match my experience.  Things exist that i do not determine by my attention.

Consequently to apply your meme above i look to qualifying when it obtains and when it does not obtain.

As a matter of haggling this case of always applies to just about everything you say! Is it always the case that ...."you don't kill me willy-nilly, and i won't kill you willy-nilly, and we will be civilized" ...nah etc,

i don't understand what you are saying here.   True, "you don't kill me willy-nilly, and i won't kill you willy-nilly, and we will be civilized" is almost always the case.  So what does that have to do with "Focus on difference & you get difference.  Focus on race you get racism. Focus on slavery you get slavery" which is just somtimes the case.  Frequently i find differences when i am looking for sameness,  i think about race just about every time you bring it up, yet *I* don't get racism.  I can focus on slavery or not, my focus does not to alter the amount of slavery in the world ... just perhaps those that i peculiarly see.   Nothing that i have said here is a truism.

So what are you saying here?
Maybe I went to fast for you. I am questioning your falacy diversion question "Is that always the case?" now highlighted in brown where you used it & I repeat it again.  Going forward I picked one of your statements from the item & applied your question to it.  Of course you argued.  The rest is munging away what I pointed out.  To repeat - one generally finds what they focus on. If you focus on racism you will probably find racism & ignore other things. That's just basic psych 101.

If black lives don't matter then no lives matter.  If white lives don't matter then no lives matter. If cops lives don't matter then black & white lives don't matter nor do any lives. Conversely if no lives matter then lives don't matter either - black or white. The rest is horse shit - i.e. politics at its worse.

The Truth of Black Lives Matter

this interchange i had with my brother-inlaw on Facebook pretty much sums up my thinking on this item ...

yep - back to your favorite lie word & calling people liars.  Maybe you should also take responsibility for blacks fearing the police & whites. Note Democrats have been in charge of the big cities for quite a while.  Quite a few police chiefs are black too as is the attorney general of the US. But blame is in the eye of the blamer.

... Nothing there has anything to do with a police officer being trigger happy when he encounters a  black man.   Whether it is true or not, is irrelevant to the matter at hand.

victimhood or taking responsibility for your action - hmmm... tough choice!

yep, another white man changes the subject
Yep another black man grinding an old axe of victimhood!

yep another white man blaming the victim .

Men are somewhat responsible for their own actions, and somewhat responsible for their reactions.  But black men are not responsible for the fear that white men harbor of them, nor of the trigger happy reactions that police have as a result of their fear.  Bringing up victimhood in this regard is just a white man's lie to distract from responsibility for his own fear and obliviousness to life, and to justify unnecessary killings.

Seth says

The fear is mutual not just whites fearing blacks or cops (if they do - such is mostly in your mind & the media mind & those race-bating poverty pimps that survive on litigating & demonstrating racism)

... I'll respond to only the part of your opinion which is not irrelevant.

We need a scientific study to determine how likely a officer will shoot a citizen based upon race.  Let the actual examples be the judge.  It is obviously a difficult inquiry ... nevertheless it should be done as objectively as possible.

Yep, yet another attempt to prove that racism is alive & exists & even the slight whiff of it should be stamped out by those that profit on racism existing. Baby, try humanism - it may have a better chance of doing good.

Well there is little doubt that racism started in America in slavery days, and has been slowly decreasing over the years.  I think the timing is ripe for an objective measure of how much is left.  A white man's opinion, who continually rags on black people's behavior, would be just as irrelevant to such an objective judgement, as would a black man who profits on that racism.

Nope! that is not what I am talking about here. The phenomena was first stated by Louis Tice in a '70s motivation class at a bank. The phenomena has been repeated variously by Tony Robbins & other.  Look around your room & see how many things have the color brown on them. Then if I were to ask you quickly how many things were green you probably wouldn't be able to anwer immediately & have to look all over again.  The same phenomena applies if you buy a new color car in your favorite color.  Soon you will notice all the other cars on the road that are also your favorite color. Prove it to yourself (or not) - Quibbling will only make you more ignorant on the subject.
LOA is something - try some YOUTubes by Esther Hicks & Abraham (some of nate's favorites)

Seth says
(;-)) 2015-09-08 07:56:35 18776
LOA something else!

Well I claim the Tice phenomena and the LOA, are the same thing.  In fact your description of Tice matches what i understand about LOA almost literally, minus some of its baggage.  If you claim they are different, can you show the difference with examples, side by side?

It is a real psycholgical phenomena ... Hicks recognized it and called is LOA ... and Rhonda Byrne packaged it as "The Secret" .... and apparently Tice had noticed it before them.  I had noticed it myself before i heard about any of those memes, but i didn't think it was a big deal until those movements brought it to the fore.

It is about attention.  It tells us that where we put our attention will become more and more important to us and that we will see more and more of it.  That is one way an attention feedback loop can work.   These self improvement movements are trying to train their customers how to use that feedback loop to advantage.

Seth says

LOA is about generating emotions of positivity toward the things that you want & the Universe will give them to you.
... Yep, pretty much.   Again that is a special case of look for something (in this case positive) and you will see more of it.

The idea that such is a "gift from the Universe" is a subjective choice ... neither true, nor false ... it is what you make it to be .... we can all have fun with that from various perspectives.

Seth says
Ironically we see an example of LOA happening right here.   Mark likes to focus on RWG, on argumentation, on who gets the last word .... hence he gets it all the time, witness 18791 about this item.

Seth, on the other hand looks for a deeper understanding of what is happening, and discovered, for the first time, that the psychological feed back principle of attention can be separated from the assumption (on faith) that the universe rewards us when we go in its right direction.

A great example, right here, right in front of us ... no?

Seth says
And yet, Hicks in his LOA might be going a bit beyond just an internal attention feedback loop ... and saying that one actually creates (or attracts) events external to one's self by the vibration of focus.

Me, I don't believe that.  Others have taken it on faith.   Where do you stand?

... and strangely enough i still think this is a fertile area for inquiry.  We could go even deeper.  Of course, we would need to set aside our egos and any ideas that one person would win the argument and another loose.

For example, in the example above could Seth be accused of "blaming the victim" ?

This feedback stuff in a multi-person environment, where we do not automatically take on only our own egoo perspective, can get pretty tricky indeed!
